talk to your doc about birth control.  My mother and I both have PCOS as it is genetic and she was on birth control and had no problems conceiving.  I on the other hand have never been on birth control because I was young and dumb and refused to go to the gyn.  I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 years (2 with medical help) with no luck so far.  I am only 25 now and when I was in HS I had regular periods, so it doesn't take long being untreated to cause major problems.  I recently underwent ovarian drilling.  Due to the cysts on my ovaries over the last few years, my ovaries have created a hard shell which stops ovulation.  The ovarian drilling broke through that shell to allow me to ovulate again.  The hard shell was caused by my eggs not being able to release correctly causing them to turn into cysts which then ruptured and hardened over my ovary.  Birth control stops ovulation.  If you are not ovulating, you won't have the cysts.  At least that's what I understand.  When my husband and I decided to take a break from the "trying to get pregnant" my doc prescribed birth control for the three months.

I am 22 and have PCOS. I was put on Metformin to help me start ovulating....it has been 6 months and my periods are still over 40 days a part, so I am thinking we are not heading down the right path. I know metformin works for a lot of people, so hopefully that could help you.

Well you could try metformin but the sooner you can find that dream man and start your family the better your chances are.  The new figures are saying fertility starts its decline at 24!  Just don't wait too long.

(and I do not endorse getting married just to have children while you are young)
