Hi Sally,
I think you meant to address your comments to Ibanez, but thanks for the info anyway.
Hi,
your comment that birthcontrol is the only way to control it is not true.
Birthcontrol will mask the symptoms but will not do anything to correcet the underlying problem.
PCOS has strong genetic links and is related to insulin resistance and syndrome X.
The way to control PCOS is thought weight management (get as close to your idea weight as possible - and this may be easier said than done), diet (lots of natural minimally processed foods, lower refined carb, low sugar), and regular (preferably daily) exercise. Eating principles will follow healthy principles of small frequent meals with healthy fats, quality protein, veges, and some fruits.
Medication such as Metformin which acts to help your body become more sensitive to insulin can also be useful for people in whom diet and exercise is not enough.
Hope this helps.
Sally
Thanks for the reply. My periods have always been random and really painful and I'm starting to get the impression that something isn't right. Your baby is adorable! (I'm assuming the pic on your page is yours).
Take care!
This is a run down of what I went through:
Missed periods since a teen, so the doctor took BLOOD WORK and found my hormones to be all messed up, the next step was an INTERNAL ULTRA SOUND which did show that I have small cyst inside my ovaries. The worse part is the only way to control it is birthcontrol which I totally refuse to do.
So anyways hopefully this was helpful. Def expect Blood Work & an Ultra Sound.
Good Luck.
