I need an answer

I'm a 20 year girl and not married yet.. I was having menustration 3 times a month.. And i was undergoing some treatments with some hormone tablets like Novlon, femlion etc.. Yesterday it was diagnosed as PCOS..

I hav alot of doubts
1)the symptoms of PCOD are amnorrhea(absence of menustration),hirsuitism etc.. Then why i was having some other features like excess bleeding?
2)did i diagnosed wrong??
3)wil i be infertile??
4)did my early medicaments bring me to this disease??
5)should i undergo any more check up??
6)what all are the medicines used for pcod.. Is it curable??

I am in a relationship.. He is a doctor.. He loves me very much.. I feel like he is the best thing which ever happened to me.. He was the reason for this diagnosis also.. Infact i will not continue this relationship if i am not fertile..

Some of my mesentric lymphnodes also hav enlarged.. I hav reccurent appendicitis also..

i am a medical student.. Somebody should help me as soon as possible.. U should tell me the fact.. I dont need anyone to console me.. Wat i need is an answer.. Please..

Don't be freaked out by it, it does seem scary at first when your diagnosed but there is a lot of treatment to help with fertility etc and stressing about it will not help you! Try & stay relaxed, your BMI seems good as does the fact you don't have a lot of the symptoms, get your hormone levels checked and try not to worry too much :)

Hi I was diagnosed with PCOS last year and like you didn't really have any of the symptoms to match the diagnosis. I will try and help you with some of your questions from my understanding

1. Not all people have absent periods in PCOS although it is very common, I have been like you sometimes i can have 2 or 3 a month but then sometimes i can have one every 3 months
2. What tests were taken to diagnose PCOS? Usually a hormone blood test and an ultrasound scan is used for this?
3. Some people do have problems with fertility but not everyone, fertility is different for everyone, some people manage to conceive naturally while others need a little more help with medications etc to help boost ovulation.
4. I haven't heard of any medications to cause this, sometimes PCOS is just an incidental finding to other problems you may be having. My GP explained to me a lot of women don't actually discover they have PCOS until they come to trying to conceive (as not all have the nasty symptoms!)_
5. Have you had an ultrasound scan/hormone bloods? You could also request to see a gynae/endocrinologist who can help you understand more
6. Theres a few medications which can help pcos however it is not curable, there is metformin, clomid - to boost ovulation, and creams etc if you have any excess hair

You should maintain a healthy lifestyle, eating well, not smoking, if you are overweight (doesn't mention above) it is suggested by losing 10% of your body weight can help a lot.

You sound like you have a supporting partner and I wouldn't advise ending your relationship. There is a lot of help out there to help with your fertility and general management of PCOS.

Good Luck! Hope this helps you!
