Irregular Periods

Hi Dr,
I am writing this for one of my close friend....She says......

""  I am 27 year old and mentally upset with my irregular periods..I got married 10 moths back..I will describe u the problems...
suppose my period date started on 20 th of this month i will get a regular period for 5 or 6 days...but after 10 or 15 days it starts bleeding slightly and it continues until my due date, that means 20th or 22nd of next month...Once the due date reaches i get a normal bleeding for 5 or 7 days..(sometimes little heavy bleeding for 3 days)..Once it stops some times i get slight white discharge as normal...But it will be upto 10 or 15 days only..after that same cycle continues...In the month Auguest i got my regular menses on 30th after july 28th cycle.but in the month of Sep it started  0n 23rd and continues till date with slight bleeding..Before marriage it was there for 2 or 3 times..Because of this i have to prepare almost 20 days in a month..And also i am not getting much time for a good sex..For last 5 month we are planning for a baby. But its not happening...I am fully disappointed ...""

I agree with fawn, she should see a obgyn and sort the problem out. BCP does make the periods regular and shorter bleed time. If she is ttc the doc might help her in this matter. She should definitely get some tests done see that everything is going fine internally.

I would suggest she see her Gynecologist so that they can provide her with some medication to regulate her period (usually birthcontrol to start). That would probably help her with conception as well because she might not be ovulating and if she is not ovulating then she wont get pregnant. I wish her lots of luck.
