Just diagnosed...

Having pain in both ovaries...

The OBGYN that did my exam, also ordered an Ultra Sound which showed that I have 2 cysts on each ovarie, the cysts are all 3-4cm is size.  The OBGYN said that I my need surgery and set me up to see a specialist on Feb 5th, she said that the specialist will decide if surgery is needed.

This is all new to me...     because I have multiple cysts, does this mean I have POCD ?

Thanks for any information;  Sonflower

im a bit late on posting but i had stomach pains, went through a year of tests and on my last ultrasound i have around 6 or 7 cysts on each ovarie, on my report it said it could be PCOS but cannot be determined on scan alone, im guessing your in the same boat as me, i have a consultation on tuesday where i will talk to an OBGYN and we will go from there, im guessing there are more tests inolved to determine PCOS but multiple cysts are the first step/sign. hope ive been some help! feel free to talk to me and good luck

Oh my! I was just diagnosed with PCOS last week after years of hirsutism (stomach area, neck and very embarrassed to say my chest). I haven't read about anyone having hair on their chest. Does anyone out there have hair on their chest? Anyway, I've had hirsutism since I was 12 and I am now 36. I've seen many endocronologists and they diagnosed the hirsutism as idiopathic because my blood sugar, weight, blood pressure, skin and menstruation were all normal. I have two children and conceived them with no difficulty.
Approximately a year and a half ago I started having hives and an allergist did a blood panel and determined that although my TSH and T4 were within normal range, I did have elevated antibodies against my thyroid, hence the diagnosis Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. The only thing that alleviated my hives was prednisone which caused me to gain 30lbs in 8 months and now I'm overweight.I'm 5'5" and 165lbs. I wasn't this size at the end of both of my pregnancies. I stopped the prednisone when I discovered probiotics...the hives went away but the weight and the elevated antibodies didn't :-( I need to say that although I do not technically have Fibromyalgia, I do have Myofascial Pain Disorder. We're kindred spirits :-).
This is all so overwhelming because I feel like I'm turning into a gorilla, I've never had elevated blood sugar (fasting blood sugar was 102, slightly elevated), and I need to lose weight but I'm too tired to do any exercise.
I've started to have pelvic pain and slightly irregular periods so I'm going to my gynecologist next week and I'm going to ask for an ultrasound to see if I have cysts on my ovaries because although I have symptoms of PCOS(elevated free testosterone, hirsutism, slightly elevated blood sugar, 20lbs overweight) it does not mean that I have cystic ovaries. We'll see...I just wanted to share my story with you because we're having similar health problems. How are you now and what are you doing specifically for the PCOS and Hashimoto's? Take care.

Hi;

Thanks again for your responce....

And yes, I do have some of the symptoms, however I do have other health issues as well.  I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis an autoimmune disease, and just recently had a Thyroidectomy and I also have Fibromyalgia.

Thanks again;  Sonflower

What other symptoms do you have? PCOS may come with weight gain, excessive hair growth, irregular or absent periods, dark patches of skin in certain areas, etc. Have you noticed any of these? Your cysts aren't big enough for most doctors to want to surgically remove. My doctor, for example, removes anything over 5 cm big and yours aren't quite there yet. They might watch them for a few weeks and see if they go away on their own with your cycles. Good luck with everything. You need to get treated because having PCOS, if left untreated, can lead to other diseases as well such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes. You should be fine if you continue with treatment :)
