I have an appointment with an OBGYN 2morrow at 4 to discuss this.
Is the bleeding heavy? Or more like spotting? If your spotting mid cycle could very well be a sign of ovulation. Bleeding during that time, signifys a strong ovulation. Check it out with your doctor when you visit.
No its not heavy bleeding I would say more like medium spotting if you can understand that. Its intersesting bc last month I spotted on this exact cd and I didn't know what it meant. Do you think that if it is ovulation spotting did ovulation occur before, during, or after the spotting/bleeding? Yes I will talk about this with her in the morning bc its just weird for me.
Thanks!!
Sounds like it may be ovulation.
Went to doc yesterday and she said that if I'm spotting mid-cycle then I'm prob not ovulating but she also said that there are some women that have post ovulation spotting. So it could just be a hormonal imbalance or post ovulation spotting the only way to be sure is to have ultrasounds every month (2 costly) or use OPKs which are not completely accurate. My sis used OPKs for an entire month they told her she never ovulated but she ended up pregnant anyway hummm makes you think. The doc also told me to count backwards 14 days from my period and thats when I should have ovulated. It comes up 2-3 days off of the days the spotting occured so I don't know.
I just think its funny it happens on the same cycle day now if it happens next month I'm just gonna assume that I am going to spot btwn cd17-20 every month. Imma try OPKs in August and prob go back on femara we shall see.
Cant your doctor send you for a blood test on cd 21 to check to see if you did ovulate? Counting back 14 days does not show anything that you ovulated. The number 14 is the "general" number doctors use, and that only works if your cycles are a normal 28 days. Which most women don't have. If the spotting is not heavy, more of like any annoying thing it sounds like something to do with ovulation. And your right about using the OPK, if you have pcos they don't work. My doctor told me never to use an OPK if you have pcos because you will never get a true reading.
Yes I can get a cd21 test done I've had 2 of them since April one on cd46 which was .4 before I started metformin. I had one done on cd20 it was 8.7 but I got my period 2 days later so she said that I need higher amounts for me to ovulate. That all started when I first started metformin now I've been on it for almost three months and I just started mid cycle spotting at the end of May. I got an order for blood work cd21 test but I'm going to wait and use it during a cycle that I use the femara.
Ok so I have a question about the mid cycle bleeding. I had my IDU removed May 20th and my husband and I are TTC. I have had 2 normal cycles that lasted about 7-8 days each. Last one being on July 15th. I have been monitoring my cervical mucus and we have been having sex everyday since July 28th. One a couple of those days I had very light bleeding. Just after intercourse. I only noticed when I went to the bathroom. I was not like my period at all. So I am guessing that it was mid cycle bleeding. I guess my question is does that happen just before you actually ovulate or during ovulation? We really want to get pregnant so I want to make sure I'm doing this right. :)
I'm not sure if the spotting happens before or after. Have you tried OPK's or bbt?
Got my period this month 8/13/09. So I'm not preggo this month. I started spotting and that lasted for about 4 days. My doc said to count the first day of spotting as day 1 even though I've heard not to do that. I did use OPK this month and for the past three days it's says I am about to ovulate. I know they say that once you get the serge not to test again but I am anyway. I have have some spotting and a bit of cramping again started yesterday 8/31/09 and today. I guess it is ovulation bleeding. But again I'm not sure if that happens before you ovulate or after. I have read that is is a great sign of fertility. Who knows! This is getting so complicated!
I know, who would've guessed how complicated having a child could be. I've decided not to try anymore but I will continue to take the metformin but nothing else. Maybe in the future I'll try but its too complicated right now.
Good Luck
