New here with PCOS

Well I was just diagnosed earlier this month and tomorrow I start metformin.  Originally I went to the ER with immense pain in my right lower front side and they did some tests to find out it was an infected cyst.  Anyway, when I went back to the doctor's for a follow-up they did another ultrasound and he told me I had PCOS and took some blood to test my hormones.  He called today to tell me that my progesterone is low.  I had been researching and I asked about metformin.  He agreed it may help me and called in a script for it.  I'm *kind of* TTC but hubby is currently deployed to Iraq so our tries are interrupted.  We've been thinking about starting Clomid for when he comes home for R&R but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.  So... hi... I'm new to PCOS and here.  Nice to see you and I welcome your advice.

I have pcos since 2007, I was diagnosed with it after I was rushed to the hosiptal for excessive bleeding in March 2007. I was put on another medication (forgot the name) but had no period for 3 months (doctor wanted to give my body a rest from bleeding). Started Yasmin bc July 2007 and started metformin in September 2008. I am overweight and have lost 55 lbs since 9/14/08. I wont be TTC until next year (I want to be under 200 lbs before trying). My doctor is hoping the more weight I lose, the better of trying for a baby and less complications.

Good luck to all.

Im always around if anyboy has questions

I also was diagnosed with pcos about 3 yrs ago. My RE started me on metformin and clomid as well, I just finished my 2nd cycle of clomid I'm on CD15. I had an appt yesterday but it doesnt look like I'm responding that much so I'm going to move on to another process, but I heard that clomid does work for some so maybe you should give it a try and we all can give each some advice : )
