Thanks, I will keep that in mind about evening primrose oil. so it starts to encourage new hair growth, or stop hair loss? or both?

PGX is supposed to help you lose weight and restore insulin sensitivity

Hi;

I was just diagnosed with having two cysts on each ovarie and all of the cysts are 3-4cm each.  I see a specailist on Feb 5th to see if surgery is needed.  I don't know if this means I have POCD or not.  This is all new to me.

My hair dresser told me to take Evening Prim Rose 1300mg it can be found at a health food store.  It takes about 2-3 months to notice the difference, but it really works!

I had a complete Thyroidectomy 12 weeks ago, so I am sure some of my hair loss is due to this.  But prior to my surgery...   for 4 years I was already on Thyroid meds. and every time the ENDO would increase my meds my hair would start falling out again.

The Evening Prim Rose worked so well I had stopped taking it for about a year.  But now that I have had surgery I have been having problems again with my hair thinning and I am also afraid to brush it!  I am very lucky because I started out with very thick hair, but it is still very scarey, to say the least... every time I brush my hair I have a hand full!

What exactly is the PGX ?

I used to have extremely thick hair, and now I just dont feel like I do anymore. It scares me almost as much as the body hair!  lose hair in one spot, gain it in another. I am not really overweight, I weigh about 160 lbs but I carry most of it around my middle which I think exacerbates all my symptoms. Right now I am taking b.c pills and a multi. I should probably get a B-complex on top of that. I just found out that I am slightly insulin resistant so I may try PGX which is a natural supplement that is supposed to restore insulin sensetivity. I talked to a woman whose husband was on metformin and it made him so sick he had to stop. He started taking PGX and it has been life-changing not to mention that he has lost 15 lbs and there are little to no side effects. My periods are only normal because I am on b.c but I do get spotting now and then.

Sometimes I am nervous to brush my hair or put strain on my hair and it falls out alot. Has anyone tried a shampoo for hair loss?

If your on metformin and if your overweight and on a diet, your symptoms will improve with weight loss. Im on metformin 500mg 1x a day plus birth control. I also take a multi viatmin and another vitamin called Super B Complex (it has a ton of vitamin in it, also it helps with hair skin and nails, well thats what it says on the bottle) I've noticed while taking everything, my symptoms are getting better. My periods use to be about 4-5 days while on bc pills, now it last 3 days. I have also lost about 36lbs too. I have also noticed my hair feels thicker especially on top. Good luck and just remember PCOS is treatable if you follow doctors orders.

Unfortunately, thinning hair is one of the symptoms that comes along with PCOS. I'm sorry you're going through it. The way you can control the symptoms is to take the meds your doctor prescribes to treat PCOS. Is your period normal right now? Did you gain weight? Going on a low carb diet really helped me to control everything in the past. Talk to your doctor about it so that he can prescribe the appropriate medications. Good luck.
