It took seven cycles for me to get pg the first time, but I think I had at least one early m/c before I tested. I started using vitex tincture three-four months before my first bfp. I lost that baby at 5.5 weeks. Then I got pregnant on the first try but lost that baby at 9.5 weeks. That finally convinced my ob that I had low progesterone, so she gave me an RX and told me to wait 3 cycles before trying again. After what felt like 3 years not 3 months we got pg on the first try and that one stuck! I actually delivered my daughter on the same date as my second m/c, one year later.
I'm now TTC #2 and am on cycle 3- again using vitex plus progesterone cream since I can't get an RX this time (long story.) TWW driving me nuts as usual.
I got pregnant last year on the first try...I was 40 at the time. I was using Clear Blue OPK and charting my temp. My first two kids weren't planned...so I never really "tried" with them. :-) I'm having tubal reversal surgery in two weeks and, hopefully, I'll be lucky after that, too!

Wow...lotsa ppl get pregnant first try!
It took me over 4 years to get a viable pregnancy - I am 25 weeks pregnant now and I am 41.
The battle started with 2 years of unexplained infertility. We then did an IVF that resulted in a miscarriage. After that I was able to get pregnant naturally but it took me 2 more years and 2 more miscarriages.
after my D&C it took 4 months but we were not trying.
Four Months, started trying Nov 08 (never tried before) hpt+ in January 2009 (around my 39th birthday). Successful month used Ovulation predictor and Pre-seed (prior months estimated ovulation).
Suspected blighted ovum at 6weeks, confirmed NOT blighted ovum at almost 8 weeks and delivered a healthy but little baby girl at 37w1d due to gestational diabetes, suspected placental degradation, climbing bp etc.... and small baby growth on growth scans (which is unusual with a gd person)
Good Luck,
J
Great post! I am curious about this too.
First time it took two tries. Used clear blue easy digital OPK. Nothing but prenatal vitamins. M/C around 5 1/2 weeks.
Second time we got pregnant on the first try. clear blue easy digital OPK. Again, nothing but prenatal vitamins, m/c around 4 weeks.
Third time we got pregnant on the first try. We were with an RE at this point. We added baby aspirin, progesterone suppositories and 2mg folic acid on top of the regular pre-natal vitamins. still used clear blue easy OPK. M/C around 5 weeks (blighted ovum on that one).
Fourth time we got pregnant on the first try again. Added Clomid (100mg) and HCG injections and B-Complex vitamins. No OPK because we monitored with us to judge HCG trigger shot. M/C around 4 weeks.
Now we are trying again and we are currently in the two week wait on our fourth try.
The previous three attempts we still did Clomid and HCG and everything else, then switched to Femara for one cycle. Now, (I'm 4dpo) we dropped Femara and HCG and we're back to doing just progesterone and baby aspirin along with all the other stuff.
To be completely honest I really don't have a clue where we'll go from here. I guess we can try injectables instead of Femara. I have also heard that IVF with PGD can help, but my RE says that might help GET pregnant, it has nothing to do with sustaining the pregnancy. And he said there we could end up with no good eggs (PGD looks at them and you can select only the chromosomally normal ones based on the most common chromosomal abnomalities), or the eggs may not divide or survive to be implated. And if I am miscarrying because the egg is bad to begin with, all the fertility treatment in the world won't help.
I'm 39 y/o no kids yet. No underlying issue that my RE can find that has caused the m/c's.
It took me 7 yrs with the 1st (got pregnant after we gave up)
pregnant immediately with 2nd
I've used OPK and tracked CM and pretty much know when I O but it's been 8 cylces now and I'm in my TWW. Absolutely nothing so far. I'm hoping for a + this month!
Good luck and SSBD to you!
About every 3 months or so. I too used ovulation predictor kits and tracked my ovulation cycles (used the medhelp ovulation tracker). The 6th one stuck for me and my little guy is 10 days old now. But remember that every women is different. It can take awhile under the best of conditions. If you are over 35 and it takes longer then 6 months, see a Dr. or RE. Even with timed intercourse and knowing your ovulation cycles, it is about a 15% chance every month. Some get lucky quickly, for others it takes a bit of time. Hang in there, it will happen.
4 IUIs the first time which resulted in an ectopic pregnancy, then 5 more IUIs for this one which stuck and I'm ready to deliver any day/week now. I just turned 42.
It took 5 years to get pregnant with my first...2 years to get pregnant again, which resulted in a m/c and then 1 year to get pregnant again and I am 31 weeks. :)
We got pregnant on our first try. We used an ovulation predictor test kit.
I used preeseed (insertible) fertile focus (ferning microscope) plus OPKs and as I mentioned I charted my body basal temp.
got pg first month and m/c got pg again the next month and it stuck...
(Oh, I meant 25 years trying, not 25 years old. There were some time-periods, probably about 7 years in all during the 25 years, where we weren't actively trying, having given up.)
Got pregnsnt first try at 35 years old. cycle length has always been irregular but before getting pregnant 2 cycles were 35 days long. BD on the second cycle and got pregnant. But I was prepared with techniques and items And was charting my BBT.
