Beta HCG Blood Test

I am a 54 post menopause woman with an elevated HCG blood test. I'm definitely not pregnant, what does this mean?

How elevated is it?  Average hCG level for someone of childbearing age who is not pregnant is less than 5, but for women past menopause, it rises to 10.

What does your doctor say?  Some medications can cause elevations in HCG, as can some cysts and tumors (especially ovarian tumors).  Also, it can be elevated in some postmenopausal women.

Hcg is the pregnancy hormone, it only shows up if you are pregnant.
