Cramping and Begining Pregnancy

I am 5 weeks pregnant with my first child and right before my missed period i started getting some bad cramps. I still have some cramping but mainly on my right. When I have a period my cramps can send me to my knees. I am not bleeding but I am getting cramps on and off and I havent had a doctors appointment yet and with this being my first baby it makes me nervous. How normal is cramping at the begining? how serve can they be?

Cramping can be normal in early pregnancy although severe cramping is best of checked by a doctor rather than left alone.
Although You are not bleeding, severe cramping can still be a bad sign with or without bleeding.
I would see someone just to be safe

It's normal.  They don't usually bring you to your knees.  The cramping on your right could be a cyst in the ovary where you ovulated this month (look up corpus luteum cyst for more information).  It's not a big deal, but they sometimes can fill with fluid instead of draining, after the egg pops out.  Mention it to your doctor when you go in for your first prenatal appointment.  Congratulations, by the way!
