oops, sorry about the spelling. i clearly spelled dyeing wrong!!
Im a hairdresser and have dyed hundreds of pregnant ladies hair over the years. I have a 10 week old little boy and had my hair dyed about three times during my pregnancy. Its perfectly safe.
Ive heard that if you dye your hair whislt pregnant, it doesnt take properly?
I will still try it, my hair is looking dull and dead now, :(
My hairdresser, while not a doctor, has assured me it's safe. I didn't dye my hair at all during my last pregnancy...This time, I have been, but not quite as frequently as I otherwise might (every 2-3 months). I'm going to do it one more time before Baby is born. I've been using home kits - Garnier Nutrisse.
The hormones really did a number on my hair last time - it went all curly and unmanageable. This time, it's pretty much the way it usually is.
My doc (high risk doc too) told me it was fine to highlight my hair after the first trimester as long as I was in a well ventilated area. Luckily my stylist was able to ONLY do my hair at the time in the salon and he made sure to keep the doors open for my own sanity. I had it done around 15 weeks and I am currently 23 weeks with a healthy bambino. I felt comfortable getting it done, however I did not have my entire head done....just highlights on the top. Hope this helps.
I've read thats its safe to do & did mine once so far, only a few high lights. I guess not enough dye absorbs into your scalp to even reach your blood stream. The only precaution you need to take is ventilation! I also read that since you have all these new hormones your hair may take to dye completly different then b4!
thank you all for the feedback!
