I had a miscarrage and a D and C in August 2011. We have been trying to conceive since September without any luck. My periods are now very irregular and very heavy. Is this a normal occurance for some women?

I had a D & C in December 2007 I got pregnant right away and ended up with another missed miscarriage and a D&C April 2008. My periods were very irregular and some short only lasting a few days and some lasting 7. It was hard for me to conceive till i finally got pregnant in March 2009. My son was born in December and since his birth my periods have been regular on track. I don't know if the surgeries were the cause of my irregular periods but I did eventually conceive. I then had another missed miscarriage in Sept. 2011  no problems with being iregular and got pregnant in January. I am now due with my second baby in Sept. if it was me I would go get seen when you hit your 1 year in August  if you haven't gotten pregnant. I wish you the best hun and hope you get your BFP.

hey there,
i had a similar problem as you. i had a really bad d and c and then my cycle went all crazy. i did bbt charts and went to my doctor. he said i might not be ovulating each month so he did blood work that next month and i did ovulate. so we kept trying. the doctor said if we wanted he could send us to a fertility clinic. we decided to wait a bit longer. i had a short cycle so i was trying b50 vitamins to lengthen them (it worked) i was also spotting before af actually showed up and the b 6 helped for a bit. but then it came back. then i decided to use apple cider vinegar (the doc had mentioned diabetic medicine to help regular sugar levels, this helps some women conceive. turns out acv regulars sugars just like the stuff the doctor mentioned. plus that month i noticed a huge change in my period, way less cramps and less output shall we say.) so it was over a year and i was about ready to quit cause it wasn't working and i didn't want to have to have someone help me conceive when i had done it once successfully before. So figured it wasn't meant to be. then i stopped the vitamins and the vinegar, even my prenatal for a month. i decided to just live. of course you know how hard it is to stop thinking about it completely. so i would jot down some details that month, nothing major though, just a calendar. (which is nothing compared to my medhelp chart and fertility friend charting) and i conceived that month!!! over a year of trying after my d and c and after a change in regular cycle.
i would recommend doing basal temps for three months and going to see your doctor and see what they have to say and go from there.
personally i feel like sometimes your body just needs to heal and will take all the time in the world before it starts doing what you expect from it. i feel like its doing its thing to protect you, even though you don't think you need protecting.
best of luck conceiving and i hope you get your bfp soon! don't lose faith, you are normal.

After miscarriage, abortion or birth it is actually a common occurrence for your cycle to become irregular or regular if they were already irregular. If you've not fallen pregnant in the next 6 months or so go talk to your doctor to see if everything is ok.
