Period or miscarriage or ectopic?

Last night, I had this pain only on one side. To visualize where it was, it was the the top left corner where pubic hair stops growing before your lower abdomen. And it was almost "bruise-like", it hurt when I touched that area. And I went to the bathroom and there was some blood on the tissue when I wiped, but not a lot. I was so happy to see blood, though, since I have been freaking out about a possible pregnancy (it's been 38 days since the last time I saw blood/ first day of last menstrual cycle...). The bleeding has gotten heavier today and the cramping a lot worse and not just in that one spot anymore. I have taken 4 pregnancy tests already. 3 over a two day span about 4 days before my missed period. Negative. And another one again just two days ago, one week after missed period. Negative. Because I just didn't "feel right", I didn't trust the negative results. And when reading up online, I saw that impending miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies can sometimes produce negative results on home pregnancy tests.

I mean, is a 38 day cycle normal? That one-sided pain? The blood is red, but like a darker color.

THOUGHTS??

A 38-day cycle can be normal, yes. An article in our Health Pages, by an OBGYN, states that a cycle from 21-42 days is considered normal.

If you suspect ectopic pregnancy don't hesitate to call your doctor tomorrow. The tube could burst and yes, it can cause death. I don't want to frighten you. It could just be a cyst on that ovary (many women get cysts on their ovaries; does NOT mean cancer). But definitely worth checking out if 38-days is not normal for you and you're experiencing one-sided pain that is unusual.

i had a ectopic and it was almost like a dull ache in one side for about a week,  I woke up one night in horrible so I had my husband rush me to the ER.  The pain was worse that child birth.  If you think that you may have ectopic see a Dr ASAP.  Its possible that you may have a cist.  That happened to a friend of mine.  Anita
