Actually I have worked with drug counseling people in the past, (vollenteering) Well they and the dr's tht I have heard about get you off meds in the last trimester so the baby is not under the influenec at bith but it is done gradual not over night. Being on meds like that can interfere with vitamin K defenciency/ blood clotting issues, breathing problems and eating problems after birth. WOman who are taking such drugs benifet from delaying the cord being cut if baby is fine at birth. THe cord is still pulsing and still is giving baby oxygen and iron and vitamin K and helps baby! The cord should not be cut till it is white and limp, anywhere from 20minutes to and hour after birth. Also not letting the dr pull on the placenta by the cord after birth as the mother's blood clotting issues can be a problem also.
If you are on drugs however that you are not perscribed for a ligitiment problem and the dr that is giving them to you dose nto know you are pregnant or you have lied and said you informed you OB when you did nto there will be problems for you! WHat they will do is get you in a treatment program if they are not needed and you can come off of them NA monitor you with blood and urine tests until the baby is born and usually afterwards to to about 6 weeks or longer if you are breastfeeding.
Good luck to you and knowthat right now you need support not a mean responce from anyone including your dr! He is there to help you medically and supportivly! Make that know to him when you discuss it. Best of luck to you!
You need to tell your OB and work with him as to what you need to do. If you ask for help thye are more likely not to refere you to CPS. IT si whne the baby shows signs of drugs at birth and the mother did nto tell si when they call!
Definitely talk to your doctor about the causes and and effects that taking that much can have on your baby. You need to be honest with your doctor and maybe they can help you with your issue... It is not recommended that you stop your usage while you are pregnant because the withdraws can cause your baby to die. I would say that it is a definitely a serious issue that you need to discuss with your doctor. Are you taking the drugs that are not prescribed to you? If they are prescribed you can go to a methadone clinic but only under the supervision of your doctor.
