I always curious about this I wanted to have natural this time my first was with epidural. I want to feel it but too scared lol
I've had 10 without anything, and it is totally do-able as long as labour is progressing as it should, best thing to do is to stay off the bed!! even when pushing, the lying on your back position is the worst position to give birth, if you can do a natural birth course if not def do a birth plan and read up on active birthing techniques, I used hot water/shower for pain relief for 9, then the tenth had a waterbirth which was amazing :)
I went completely natural with my first and plan to do the same with this one...i did have pitosin though cuz my water broke a few weeks early...but as far as pain meds go...i had nothing...YOU CAN DO IT :)
Be careful! I got an epidural (that DIDNT work) n then they gave me meds thru my IV and it didn't help but the pain but I was falling asleep between contractions. It was really crazy I'm not taking any meds at all this time around! I still felt everything anyways. I say talk to your doc and hold out as long as you can! I had back labor (which I hear is more painful, but I dunno) n was begging for an epidural. Ugh! Hope either route you go you have a safe delivery, Congrats!
Every Dr is different on their approach to meds(some favor certain ones), talk to your Dr about what you might get as it just as important to research the IV meds as much as the epideral... this is especially important as some moms are concerned about the meds affecting the baby in anyway, and the mom too!... my sister had fentanyl prior to her epideral and she was right looped from it and wishes she would have just waited for the epideral instead (she had planned on the epideral from the start) but my point is knowing what IV meds you are open to get and the different ways they may affect you... i had fentanyl before my epideral as i was a mess! and prior to going to labor and delivery they gave me some injection that didnt last AT ALL and i cant remember what it was?? (baby brain) anyway i never was looped ever! so it also depends on the amount and the person... anyway congrats and good luck!!
I just want to say that if you can get into a bath tub for part of your laboring i highly reccomend it!!! it took the edge off far mor than whatever that injection was lol and if i was gonna do it naturally thats the only way i could, im pretty sure, but i am pro meds as i am a wimp!!
You can get IV medicines, but make sure to research them. Some have very undesirable side effects and can make delivery more annoying.
My last two pregnancies I had no epidural and they were both induced. I am not going to lie, it was painful but its totally doable! I got a little nubaine in my iv to take the edge off but you still can feel what is going on. My first I had an epidural but they shut it off so I was basically pushing with nothing. Good luck.
