My mil said that she delivered my husband less than twenty-four weeks gestation. She said she had him in a bathroom floor in a house a good twenty to thirty minutes away from the hospital. She said they called the ambulance and they took him to the hospital and he was only in the hospital a month or two. Keep in mind my husband was born thirty years ago. My husband is gullible and insists that he was born before twenty-four weeks and all.
The reason I don't believe her is medical treatment has come along way and a baby born before twenty-four weeks would be very lucky to make it if born in a hospital. She said she had him away from the hospital where he would not have medical attention right Away and would of had to wait forty five minutes to an he to get the needed care for a baby that early. The true facts of the story were she was on drugs and had her baby slightly early with breathing problems and was high when she went into labor and did not realize she was having him till she was pushing him out.
I doubt she went that far over. That would be a little extreme. Up to a month over maybe but a month and a half I really doubt it, and he was only eight pounds not likely. My mil is full of sh.it also I did not believe anything she says, I would just say yea right and not bother to speak further on the topic. I had to go as far as to tell mine I did not want to hear about a topic again. She was horrible on advise on pregnancy, birth and parenting but continued to try and force her advise on me. I would have told her to prove it or stop telling me, that is just me though. Good luck on dealing with her and don't let her stress you out.
That's incredibly uncommon TinaRosa - most babies who are full term or even a little post term are perfectly healthy - NICU stays are far far more common for babies who are born too early. I'm sorry your mama had to go through that - but the fact is that a baby who's late isn't going to be unhealthy just because they're late. I was born ten days late and came home from the hospital the day after I was born. I know a little girl born last summer at 43w2d and she's been healthy as can be since the moment she arrived. Anecdotes aren't the same as data!
My mom went pasted her due date but by days and my little brother almost died because of it he wasn't breathing or crying wen he was born we had to leave him in the hospital for almost a month after he was born and that was just by a fue days going over i really doubt that they went 6 weeks over if she did i agree with everyone saying the due date was probably wrong
Glad to know I'm not the only one with a slightly crazy MIL lol
Makes me somewhat happy that my MIL is in Puerto Rico & can barely communicate with me cuz of our language barrier!
