NONPAID MATERNITY LEAVE

HOW CAN I GO ABOUT TRYING TO OBTAIN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WHILE ON A NONPAID MATERNITY LEAVE, UNEMPLOYMENT?? OR DISABILITY INSURANCE?? ANYONE EXPERIENCE THIS SITUATION? Plz HELP..THANKS.

I been receiving unemployment for months now after working 2 years with a company..now I reach the 36 weeks..they told me to apply with disability,  cuz I wont b able to work or look for a job...once disability is done I can reapply for unemployment. .and theres a new program that pays u an extra 6weeks so u can br with baby. Gurl don't think it. Appply for disability n that pogram im telling u...ask the nurse they usually have thoses papers in the office

Yes i heard unemployment wont help...my situation cause its not like i got fired during the pregnancy....gosh i just wana have time to bond with my little girl til im able to figure out how to get back to wrk... But i think Disibility may be able to help.me out for bout 6 weeks after the baby is born...new to all this so i figure i ask.. And see if anyone has been in this situation and perhapz did get assistance...

Unemployment will not pay while you are on maternity leave bc you have to be ready for work.  My sil got laid off and during maternity leave they refused to pay her for those 6 weeks.

Well i just started giving this all thought... My boss doesnt pay for my leave...just gives me the option to come back to wrk, so im just stressed of the idea of not being financially secure cause i have a baby on the way...just thought i weigh out my options if there were any for unpaid leave from work.

Disability usually short term will cover as long as you've bee n employed 6 months with the company

I don't know if Unemployment kicks in during maternity leave or not.  If you carry disability insurance already, it might kick in, or it might have some fine print that says pregnancy is not a disability.  Is there an HR department where you work who might be able to advise you?
