Prescribed Bactrim

Hello- I have a question regarding an antibiotic I was prescribed when I was 6 weeks pregnant. I had a severe UTI and went to the ER and was given Bactrim. I'm worried about the adverse affects because after reading several articles online, they had all mentioned the drugs risks. I know that the neural tube is supposed to close during the first 4-5 weeks and I'm worried, since Bactrim blocks the absorption of folic acid, that the antibiotic may have interfered with the baby's development. I'm so nervous. Any help would be appreciated!

Talk to your doctor.  You can get all kinds of answers and information on the Internet, some of it contradictory and some ill-informed.  Either talk to the doctor, to the pharmacist, or to the Bactrim 800-line.
