The only reason your not suppose to eat them is they are a hard processed food (lunch meat is the same way) they grow bacteria faster then other types of non processed foods. As long as you eat them fully cooked (both hotdogs and lunch meat) and they are freshly opened you are ok!

(I eat hotdogs all the time both pregnamcies....and only time I eat lunch meat is from subway (I have it toasted) because they monitor the time spand and freshness of their meat every hour!)

Hot dogs are considered a deli meat so you have to cook them really good before eating them. I heard they have nitrates so you aren't supposed to eat them all the time but once in awhile is fine.
