first appointment

Is it normal to have to wait until 8 weeks to have your first appointment? Even after 3 home pregnancy tests I was hoping for some solid confirmation before then. Is it true that a positive test is pretty much always right?

Yeah that spuds about right.. We did our home pregnancy test, I went to my local GP the next day and have a few blood tests to confirm. We didn't see our OB until 10 weeks. We did have an early scan at 7.5 weeks though due to a pervious miscarriage.

I also just found out that I'm pregnant with our first! I did 2 HPT's on Saturday and then a blood test on Sunday. When I called gynae on Monday he said to wait til I'm 8 weeks so he can show us the heartbeat (I'm currently around 5). I know it feels like forever to wait and I also have so many questions for him, but they're the pros! Good luck with your pregnancy ☺

You can call and make a proof of pregnancy exam. They will give u another test at the office to confirm. I live in a very small town and the OB is only in her office on Mondays here so my first visit isn't until next week at 13 weeks. I needed to see her early for proof of pregnancy for Wic and some anti nausea pills so I just went in at 7 weeks and waited for an opening.

It's true.  You may be excited, but they're not.

Most places wsit til you are 8 or 9 weeks because they can do an u /s then and actually see something and by then you can hear the heartbeat. I feel like a pregnancy test should be right. Try taking a couple if it makes you feel better.with ny first I called my family doc and they did a blood test right away and confirmed. The  I had to wait til 9 weeks to see the obgyn

Ya that is right. That is when they can confirm it with a vaginal sonogram.  My personal opinion would be sooner!
