My doctor is pushing me to get all these vaccines while pregnant. Like flu and whooping cough. I've put it off so far. Just want others opinions?

I would personally get the whooping couch vaccine,  but as for the flu shot do some research because this year's flu mutated and the flu vaccine was not effective because of the mutation

Im putting it off as well. I received the flu shot after I had my daughter and were having reactions to it the worst time after labor and the nurses weren't friendly so I don't think I'll be doing but Idk yet...

@geek mom, did you know there is recent research that suggests SIDS is connected to vaccines? There are a lot of us who work with naturopathic doctors, and who look at research beyond google, like say stanford for example. Don't insult a person's personal decision, when yours could just as easily be called ignorant and obtuse.

Actually research as in medical journals. You'll will find and probably about the same amount of information for as the information against. As I stated she should do her own research and make an informed decision for herself. For many it is paranoia especially when the decision to get the vaccine is uninformed and the only information one has came from a pregnancy forum. Whooping cough exist but it is not an epidemic every where and the numbers even in this post are a bit much. It is a personal decision to receive or not receive. I chose not to.  She asked for opinions. And my opinion was for her to do her own research. I mould never tell a pregnant mom to google information or worse Wikipedia that's reckless. I also don't force my personal choice and or thoughts on anyone that's irresponsible especially when some don't seek professional help.

I didnt get either shot. Just my choice. My brothers wife got the whooping cough vacine and had a miscarriage two days later. Whos knows if it was related. I will vaccinate after my child is born though. I dont take tylone or any other meds while pregnant.  Also dont get pain meds while in labor either. Do what you think is right for you and your baby!

@Peyton...I hate when doctors rush like that. Try to get all the answers you need. I'm glad to know you are vaccinating your children....it's Just dangerous not to. It scares me so much to have something similar happen when I could have maybe prevented it. Try to talk to your doctor and say that you feel kind of rushed and like your concerns aren't being addressed. I know ALOT of doctors that work for me have to be told because their bedside manner is just out of control. Good luck my dear

In Canada my ob never mentioned the whooping cough vaccine to me just the the flu shot. However, I decided against the flu shot because it takes two weeks to become effective and only covers flu and not the common cold and 60-70% effective too

I agree with you. I am not against them at any rate. Our 4 yr old has all her vac. I am seeing a different doctor then I did with her and things go so fast he talks so fast and he's out of the room with in a few minutes. I don't feel like I get all the answers I feel and want. He really pushes the vaccines and then walks away. I just wanted to know more about the vaccine in general.

My best friend did not get the whooping cough vaccine and her newborn had No antibodies and caught it at 2.5 weeks. Sadly he died a week later since he had no immune system t to fight the infection. My best friend blamed herself...attempted suicide....was hospitalized for 6 months because she went crazy. She blamed herself. Although I'd never say this and I supported her because she is my friend but she was right. She read bogus research turning her from vaccinations and ultimately her child died from something she could have easily prevented. She has had 3 kids since And all including herself have been vaccinated. I've had all my vaccines. I won't risk my child's life for something petty and preventabl and I certainly won't act like I know more then the experts because I know how to use google. It's a personal choice. Just make sure that if you don't do it you can live with the consequences of what can haopen to your child.

Ok here is a fact. 100 years ago before the whooping cough vaccine 200,000 babies in the u.s. died every year from whooping cough. Today there are only 13,000 cases I'm the u.s. each year.

@geekmom1213 just because you don't agree with somebody else's opinion means they are wrong!! You might think you are always right, but the lady that posted this is asking for opinions , we all have very clear what yours is and you can do whatever you want with your body and kids! It's your decision, but please be a little open minded and respect diversity! Not everyone thinks like you and instead of insulting just respect! @3rdndone was letting her know to do her own research and make an informed decision! Nothing wrong with that. There are doctor that don't agree with vaccines during pregnancy and. It's fine! They are just espousing their point of view and it's up to us to make an informed choice!
Good luck everyone with their pregnancies and please don't get vaccines just because somebody "push you" to get them! Get them if that is your decision only

Paranoia?!?!? How about the biggest outbreaks of whooping cough in forty years? The deaths of infants who could easily have been protected? These are facts, darlin'. Not speculation, and not the fear-mongering you're trying to spread.
I don't think those of us who are listening to our doctors and respecting the actual medical research (instead of whatever you're studying at the University of Google) are the paranoid ones.

I gave in and got the tdap after a ton if back and forth and research. In the end for me the known risks of he illnesses and the rate of infection growing like it has been lately was worse than the slim unknown risks if the vaccines. Haven't gotten the flu shot though and think I'll skip it. I use sanitizer and wash hands and eat healthy and take vitamins and avoid sick people and kids.

Whooping cough is often fatal in infants under 3 months...do you really want to risk your baby's life over something completely preventable

Do your own research. I did my own and decided against getting the vaccinations that and the fact that I have two other children and the vaccinations weren't being pushed then. Make your own decision based on being informed and not paranoia.

My husband and I got both. Since the baby can't get them until months after birth, it is really good for them to get it from you when your pregnant. Only side effect we had was a sore arm. I'm right handed so I get them in my right arm so it won't get as sore and stiff.
