so confused... pos then new pregnancy test

I'm very confused this morning. I took a pregnancy test in the evening on the 2nd day after my missed period and it was positive (waited the correct amount of time after and there were two definite lines). My husband wanted me to take another test to confirm, so I took one this morning (day 6 after deter missed period) and it appeared to be negative after detect first, but did have a very faint line at about 4 minutes (the test says to check at 3). I'm having symptoms of pregnancy - sore breasts, no period, mild to moderate lower back pain, headache. Did I just get a false negative? I'm really confused because my positive test came back in the evening. This was a morning "first urine" test and is questionable. Help!

Thanks guys. I'm planning to do another test tomorrow and I'll be making an appointment soon. My understanding of pregnancy tests is that a false negative is much more likely than a false positive (when used correctly). Maybe my second test was just a dud. Guess we'll find out! Thanks!

I would definitely recommend you retest! Try a different brand. Also getting a blood test would be more accurate then any urine test.

If there is a line no matter how faint, you are pregnant! That's what my clear blue easy test said in the directions. It depends on the level of hormones at the time of the test. I would take another one just to be sure but chances are you are pregnant:)

Take another one but it seems like your pregnant. 1 minute doesn't make much of a difference. When I took my first pregnancy test it was a cheap one and it was positive with dark lines, then I took another one 2 days later, a more expensive brand, and I could barely see the positive line. And her I am 33 weeks pregnant.

The only way to really know for sure is go to a doctor or clinic and have them do a blood test.
