The whole point of a period is to shed the lining of the uterus ff an egg is not fertilized (pregnancy) you won't be on your period. BUT, you could have spotting/brown/red discharge throughout the pregnancy. The only way to be sure that you are pregnant is to take a test, or talk to your physician for a test and possible ultrasound. If you know that you are already pregnant and are experiencing heavy bleeding with bright red blood, get to the emergency room. If it is slight pink, or brown, it's just implantation bleeding which means the embryo is getting more settled onto your uterus to grow.
