Csection fears

I had a dream last night that I had to have an emergency csection. I am  absolutely petrified of it. Just thinking about it now is making me shake. Can some one please tell me what its like to have a csection? Can you feel anything, the incision, when they pull the baby out, etc? What was it like to lay there and be cut open like that? How did you stay calm. I'm praying every day I can deliver vaginally, I just can't imagine being cut open like that.

I had an emergency c section 10 days ago after complications arose. The staff were fantastic, i was given an epidural to numb me from the chest down and i couldn't feel a thing, other than some slight tugging etc which wasn't painful in the slightest. i had baby daddy on one side holding my hand and the midwife on the other holding my hand and she spoke me through the entire procedure. It felt like no time at all and baby was lifted out, they brought him round so we could see him quickly before they took him away to do his checks. Baby daddy was given him and i got to stroke his arm when i was getting stitched up. Got to breastfeed him while in recovery. I was on bed rest that whole day but midwifes in ward were great at changing his bum and passing him to me from cot as my legs were numb most of the day.  Recovery is worse but manageable x

I also had an emergency c-section performed under local anesthia. I am naturally a calm person and i also had confidence in my OB. Right before she cut me open, she walked me through on what to expect, as soon as my baby was delivered, she told me everything went well and from there I will feel a lot of pressure. The pressure was uncomfortable but I assume it was to extract the placenta and whatever needs to be released post delivery. Anyway, recovery went well. I was bed-ridden for a day or two and I also needed assistance with walking and showering. I couldn't bend over.. Tmi... Anyway, I refused to take any pain killers since I wanted to nurse immediately. With this pregnancy, I hope for a vaginal birth this time around.
All the best!

I had an emergency Csection in 2009. My son passed away afterwards, Placental Abruption. After that Csection I had trouble moving for 2 weeks and was in horrible pain for the first week or so but i think that was more mental than physical. BUT...in 2010 I had my 2nd csection and I was up moving around about 5 hrs after surgery. couldnt feel a thing besides pressure and the pulling during my 2nd one (was asleep didnt hurt a bit. ill b having my 3rd csection next month :) good luck!!

Were you awake for the csection? What was like lying there knowing they were cutting you open? Could you feel anything?

I had an emeegencyc section about a week ago. It was a peice of cake. I was In labor for 14 hours before and that was much worse then the c section. The only bad part about it is afterwards you can't move for a day or two but its really not bad at all
