I had to leave at 21 weeks due to high risk pf premature labour. I would have liked to stay utntil about 30 weeks. Dont think I woild have made it past then though with my job.

I agree US is so backwards regarding leave. With my first I literally called in the day I went into labor as I was supposed to be there at 8am. I only had 8 weeks off. With my 2nd I left work early on Thur had her on Tue and had 9 weeks off. Made me regret ever calling in sick before that since I had to use all sick and vacation time :(

Aww that's no good :( I'm only casual and I get maternity leave for a year! (On call nursing, but I basically worked part time hours)... I wish you the best! :)

I plan on working til I pop. Because I am only part time I don't get paid maternity leave. So I am working my butt off trying to save money for when I'm off...and even if I was full time and got paid maternity leave I think you can only be gone between 6 and 12 weeks...depending on your condition I think. The u.s. s.ucks. I would love to go on leave a couple weeks early and then be gone for a whole year to spend time with my baby. :(

The greatest thing about (canadian) mat leave is if you are classified as low to mid income you can get the 55% bumped up to as much as 80%, makes me thankful hubby earns way more then me and that we aren't legally married! Yay for common law technicalities! I don't think I'll be taking the full year though, I 've worked it out with my boss that when I do go back I'll be able to work opposite shifts as hubby so I don't have to worry about day care. Because honestly, day care is so expensive it would probably make more sense for me to be a SAHM, but I'd go crazy if I never left the house.

Im due aug 25...my mat leave starts on the 12th....yay for 1 year off.  CANADA ROCKS!! I am a pharmacy technician so the job is pretty physically demanding.....hopefully I don't need to go off sooner.

I'm planning on leaving at 38 weeks, but its not firm yet. I'm having issues doing some of the required cleaning already, so that might make my boss ask me to take it early. In my province mat leave can start at 23 weeks.

I left work at 32 weeks because I was showing signs of preterm labour. I'm 35 weeks now and bored as hell!

I left at 6 months because of how physically demanding my job is and because there was no light work to pick up. Luckily my boss just laid me off (lack of work) so I could collect and then come back after I'm ready when the baby is born. So technically its not maternity leave, but a leave none the less. I hate not working but I just couldn't do what I normally would in a fast pace animal hospital.

I left at 32 weeks (im a nurse) cause my job was too physically demanding. My dr made me go on medical leave till I deliver and then I'm on maternity leave for 12 months after that! :)
