2 Week Old

Sorry I've posted this in the pregnancy forum but it's such a good forum for feedback and ladies with experience.
My little boy's two weeks old today. His cord fell off 6 days ago and was all good at first. It was a little gunky but we cleaned it like recommended by midwives and was told it was normal.
Yesterday I noticed a tiny bit of blood with the usual gunk,so I called my Aunt to ask her if it was normal and she said it wasn't to worry about and sometimes a little blood is expected. We decided to keep an eye on it. By night time it had formed a bloody scab and I was quite worried, my partner said to just wait till morning and see how it was and if I was still worried then call the midwives. So this morning came and there was blood on his nappy and another bloody scab formed, so I called the midwives and explained to them my concern and after a few questions they decided it was okay as long as its not actually bleeding. Well not long later (now) when changing his nappy we've noticed more blood on his baby grow (we've been folding the nappies down so they don't irritate it and maybe rub it off) But even without the nappy over it it's rubbed off and another scab is forming. I'm really worried and wondering if anyone's experienced this and if it's normal. The midwife when she asked questions said it's probably the nappy rubbing the scabs off so it bleeds a little more, but this time it hasn't rubbed it off. Should I call the midwife again?

My son had the same problem for 2 to 3 weeks after his fell off, they said it just wasn't comepletly healed on the inside that caused the gunk and blood, just keep it clean, I would wash it everytime you change his diaper. But I wouldn't worry but I know that's easier said then done especially with your first :)

Does your son have a ped.? If so, I would call her. My son's had some bleeding as it was falling off, and a little tiny bit after, but that was it, and my sons wasn't gunky after it fell off either, so I'd be worried about it getting infected.
