My son had the same problem for 2 to 3 weeks after his fell off, they said it just wasn't comepletly healed on the inside that caused the gunk and blood, just keep it clean, I would wash it everytime you change his diaper. But I wouldn't worry but I know that's easier said then done especially with your first :)
Check it out if u r worried it is normal for yellowish gunk to come out get cotton wool and warm water and bathe it put pad over it keep doin it it will stop hope that helps it work on my babba all my 3 children had the same problem xx
Ive registered him with the dr yeah but cant see them till monday cause its NHS (uk) but all midwives have said the gunk and bloods normal but i keep freaking out about it!
Does your son have a ped.? If so, I would call her. My son's had some bleeding as it was falling off, and a little tiny bit after, but that was it, and my sons wasn't gunky after it fell off either, so I'd be worried about it getting infected.
Hi don't worry its ok my daughter 4 months old nw the midwife cut her cord to near her skin and did the same as your little 1s keep it clean get a band aid pad that goes over wounds put it over the belly button and it will stop the nappy from rubbing it just needs a bit more time to dry up if your worried you can speak to your midwife any time that is Wat their their for
