Ive been smoking for nearly 10 years and have smoked my entire pregnancy. My baby boy is a prefectly healthy weight and length and has a very strong heartbeat. I did cut down dramatically but my doctor advised me not to quit because the stress of it could cause more damage than stopping everything. Like I said 30 years ago the doctor could have a cigarette hanging out of their mouth while delivering a baby. Youll know if there is something wrong. Like the baby doesnt move for days...youre still early on and its great that youve cut back but remember any stress you feel the baby feels. Dont let people bully you if you think its ok

It isn't safe to smoke at any time during a pregnancy ESPECIALLY in the first trimester and early pregnancy. That is when all your babies vital organs are developing and smoking during development can definitely cause birth defects, complications, and or still birth. The beginning of pregnancy is a very crucial stage of your babies life. I wouldn't risk your babies health or the test if his/her life because you need a smoke. Chew gum, go for a walk, easy sunflower seeds. Anything.  A lot of people think just because you're "barely pregnant" means you can get away with stuff like that. But truth is you couldn't have picked a worse time.

Smoking doesnt cause stillborns. Generally its a vitamin problem or cord wrapped around the neck. Do you think that in the 70s when doctors and mothers smoked in the delivery room there was some huge wave of stillborns? If you keep yourself cut down you will be fine. You know your body better than anyone and if you feel like something is wrong call your doctor. Dont panic over women who have never smoked a cigarette in their life
