Too funny not to share

I'm a high school teacher and am waiting until I go into labor to take maternity leave.  My due date was January 20, so I have students coming to check on me in between all of my classes to ask about my contractions and if my water has broken.  They are all so concerned...it's just too cute.  If I have to run to the bathroom or do errands, they are going down the hall screaming my name to make sure that I'm okay.  Because we live in a small town, they all know what hospital I'm going to and have told me they want to show up to see the baby.  I'm the teacher that sends the fake babies home, so I know how most of them handle a child but it is just too funny to me that they are so excited.  They leave me with their phone numbers so that I can text them pictures and I have a list of several students wanting to babysit my 14 mo or drive me to the hospital if my husband is at work.

It just makes my day that they are so excited for me.  It really takes the depression away from the fact that I'm past my due date and still waiting for my baby to decide to come!

I'm not a teacher but I work at a high school in a small town too. My daughter also attends the same school. My kids are the same way. They want to know every detail about the baby & wants me to call them when I go into labor even if it's the middle of the night. I'm sure their parents would appreciate that. lol. But they bring me treats and ask to do things for me & if I miss for an appt. they are calling/texting my daughter to see if everything is ok. For all the "bad" kids out there that everyone talks about for that generation there sure are alot of good & thoughtful ones too. ;)
