I had to do it, its to check your protein levels. It's actually how I figured out I had preclampsia sometimes it can she other problems.
Reading through your profile it sounds like from your symptoms, your doctor suspects preeclampsia but she's one of those docs who doesn't tell you anything so you're left thinking the testing is unnecessary.
I did bc my blood pressure was high and had swelling very early in pregnancy and I think it's not bad a thing your doctor is doing all that I don't mind all the stuff my doctor makes me do even she says we are fine bc I rather be safe than sorry
I had to with my first. My blood pressure was a concern so he was monitoring me for pre eclampsia. If you have had any swelling, high bp, headaches or protein/sugar in your routine test would be why. Sounds like what I had during my first.
With all 3 of my kids, ive never had to do a 24 hour urine collection. The only reason you should be doing a 24 hr collection is if there is suspicion of preeclampsia for example high blood pressure, swelling, headaches, or protein in your normal routine urine collection at each visit. I would be asking what reason you are doing it. You have the right to know whats going on with yoyr body whether your doctor wants to worry you or not its still your right as a patient to have an explanation for ANY test that is not routine.
I did , and they check for protein in your urine. It necessary to make sure you don't have signs of preeclampsia or even sugar in your urine. Everyone's pregnant is different so you can't always go by everyone else's memories of their pregnancy. Your Dr. Maybe telling you things are fine so you aren't worried . but he or she may be watching to make sure you don't develop something you maybe borderline on having ... Like you said better safe than sorry and its all worth it for a healthy baby!
