30 wks pregnant. Lost mucus plug last night. Have been having BH and uterine irritability for past 2 weeks. Baby is at station -2 when will he arrive?

Hey everyone. As of yesterday I am 30 weeks pregnant. Starting almost 3 weeks ago after a spontaneous trip to Florida and back one night to pick up my sister in law I started having contractions  (3-5 mins apart) while taking a short walk on the beach before heading back (5-6 hr drive one way). I have been having them religiously everyday and the doctor has sent me to the hospital twice before yesterday to monitor me and the baby. I've been having a lot of pressure in my pelvic area, on my cervix, and in my rectum.  Yesterday at 7:22 I lost my mucus plug and it had the pink bloody tinge to it. Called the doctor and he sent me on over to the hospital to make sure i wasn't dilated anymore since i have been at a one since the first hospital trip. Well I'm still around the same but the baby's head is now at -2 station which they said is really low considering i'm only 30 weeks and first pregnancy. Does anyone have a clue of when i might possibly go into labor...like a few weeks or do you all think i'll go another 2 1/2 months? Thanks everyone for any help and peace of mind you all can give me.

i dont normally come to this forum but the luck of the wrong button led me here.   with my first i went on bedrest at 30 weeks.  i took meds to help stop contractions and could just get up to go to the couch or use the bathroom. they gave me steroid shots to help develop his lungs quicker.  have they discussed this with you?

with my second i had no indication of an early delivery, but as luck had it she showed up at 34w6d.  perfect just tiny.

with this pg (im 30 weeks today!) we did steroid shots to help with the lungs due to her health.  i feel that if you cant get a dr to give you exact info and a clear indication of what is going on and expected of you, maybe you need to find another dr.  its still too early to want to deliver and there are things that might be done to help delay it.

good luck and dont let the drs keep you in the dark.  become very vocal about what you want or need to know.  dont let a maybe get you out the door.  i wish you the best of luck and hope your little one stays in for a bit more time!

It's a shame that healthcare has came down to the doctors wanting to make money the quickest and easiest way possible w/o having to take the time out of their day to actually see THEIR patients. I think they all have forgotten the Oath they had to take when they chose that as their career path. but that's what this world has came down to how to make quick easy money. The bad thing is the doctors here don't even keep notes about when you visit the hospital. The past three times he has sent me to the hospital to get monitored and test ran the nurses have told me before i left to remember to remind my doctor about all my visits and what they were for, what tests were ran, and what the results were b/c he won't remember that i had even been there. I wish everyone the best of luck and you all will be in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you all SO much for all this great advice as bad as it is to say it helps knowing i'm not in this boat alone even though i don't wish this on anyone. Keep me updated on how ya'lls pregnancies turn out, and again, THANK YOU!

Sorry, I just reread all the comments on this thread.  I would strongly urge you to put yourself on bedrest until you can see your doctor (since that was mentioned to you even though you didnt get well defined instructions on this).  Bedrest means, you should only get out of bed to use the restroom - that is it. Please take it very easy as you are at risk for preterm labor (based on your symptoms and snippets of information you have received ) and very mild exercise such as simply walking up stairs can send you into full-blown labor.

If I was in your shoes I would be very proactive since its better to air on the side of caution.  "Bedrest" was marked on your papers for a very good reason and it sounds like an oversight that the importance of this and instructions were not given to you.

Are you on bedrest?  You really should be because of the symptoms you have been having at only 30 weeks gestation.

I have to agree with joy on this.. I lost my Mucus plug really early as well and began freaking out. I would demand to see you DOCTOR not the doctors nurses.. I will keep u in my thoughts and prayers and hope and pray you make it to at least 37 weeks

Demand to see a DOCTOR. sometimes they dont take you seriously. Thats how they are they take the easy way......... the less "work" they have to do they are happy with it...

This is awful. I hate being left confused and no nurses or doctors willing to clarify their instructions for me. I'm sorry to hear you are going through the same thing. Best of luck to you and your little one.

I think we might be in the same boat - my doctor told me to "lay in bed, keep my feet up and not to do anything I do not need to do" - but he did not say bed rest --- I will find out on Tuesday if that is what he meant.. but I am thinking that since they put that on your release report - you should consider yourself "on bed rest" :) best of luck!

I also forgot to mention I'm dilated to a 1-1.5 cm. The day after I got home from Florida I was dilated about a fingertip.

Every time the doctor has sent me to the hospital all i have seen are the nurses i haven't actually seen a doctor in the past 3 weeks. The nurses run all the test then call and report the results to the doctor. And as far as bed rest goes they marked it on my paper they sent me home with but didn't really say anything about it. They just told me to take it easy and no strenuous activities. No to do a lot of walking or standing. They haven't put me on and medications or anything yet. But I'm supposed to go for my normal checkup this upcoming Wed. so I guess I will see then. I left out that I'm a high risk pregnancy. I've had 9 surgeries for severe Endometriosis and PCOS. It had actually eaten a hole through my intestinal wall and my uterus is completely covered in a certain type that can only be removed by hysterectomy. Thank You all for all of your advice. It's much appreciated.

thanks for clearing that up. From my book, "Your Pregnancy week by week" it said when i read it, that the mucos plug is the sign to look for in early labor............. so i didnt know it "regrows"

Oh and another thing about the mucous plug- losing it is not an indication that labor will start anytime soon. It can regrow.

The pressure from baby's head is a major factor in dilation and effacement. So I would assume your doctor put you on bedrest because 30 weeks is way too early for baby to be born. 39 weeks+ should be the goal pending everything else is alright with baby.

If he didn't put you on bedrest I'd ask about it and see what he thinks. And otherwise, no more walking on beaches (walking on sand is a lot more difficult on your body) and try to rest as much as humanly possible, no lifting over 5-10 lbs, etc.

And finally nothing is ever set in stone when it comes to having a baby unless your water has broken or you're 4-5+ cm dilated. Even with everything you described labor could still be months away. There is no way to predict when your little one will come. But right now is definitely NOT the time they should be coming. Good luck!

im sorry to tell you i dont think you'll last 2 1/2 months. it could still be a few weeks though. but 7 until you are full term is probably quite a stretch. you need a steriod shot to mature your baby's lungs faster and they need to have you on strict bedrest. you need to also have a take home medicine to stop your contractions. i was admitted to the hospital for contractions and they had to stop them. im 33 weeks. they normallly want to stop them until 35. you need to ask for more attention from your doctor. and pray hard because thats what i did and so far not one contraction. :) ill keep you in my prayers..i hope baby stays in .. if your doc doesn't put you on bedrest put yourself on bedrest!! im so surprised they haven't yet i guess cause your not dilating? anywhoo you need to be. and no sex at all.

Usually that is the first sign of labor. With in two wks after loosing mucus plug you are '"supposed" to go into labor. Im sorry but that is all i know, and im not going to tell you not to worry. Bc that is something to worry about, Im surprised they dont have you on bedrest.......... are they waiting for the contractions to start?????? bc then it might be too late.
