I just checked out your picture and it doesn't look like an outie but is something else. I had one growing up and it didn't look anything like that. I would ask her Ped about it and see what they say.
I agree with the others, check with your dr just in case. My niece had a herniated belly button and in time they did finally do surgery but I don't remember exactly what it looked like. Better to be safe.
I just had a look at your new added photo on your profile and I would get this checked out asap, just in case
xx
Just put up a new pic on my profile...
I have two with outies and this and even sticking out is not much like theirs. It sticks out all the time round.
My mom had twins and thiers stuck out and one of my sisters would get like a golf ball when she cried! It was a harnia but they do not worry about them till they are loder as the stomach muscles get stronger and pull together especiall as the start sitting up and moving about. Now my little girl had an outie from birth and around 3-4 it did go in some but is still out, Henry's is 7 months and his is kinda flat with his belly now but will poke everyonce in a while.
I would not worry till she is much older and it is a cute BB I might add;)
You can tell if it is an hernia if it feels like grisel and will be able to be pushed back in with very light wiggle and pressure, If it can't then it is an outie with a strech in the muscle not opening. Hope that makes since, that is how the dr told me.
It looks how my sons looked and he has a herniated belly button. His pediatrician is waiting to see if it'll correct itself and if not then he will need it to be surgically repaired.
Also what does it feel like when you touch it? Lilys felt like jelly, when pressed lightly it would go back in to where it was meant to be. If it is a hernia, as long as it goes back in to place easily you are right to wait for her appointment.
Just had a look through all of Lilys photos. I am just about to pop one up now in my profile for you to have a look at. The pics shows her hernia, but it is not pocking out all the way in it.
So should I set up an appointment tomorrow or just wait until her 2 month on Feb 10?
dd has it... at first i thought it was because her tummy was so big :) turns out she has an outie, that the ped referred to as a slight herniation. He was not concerned.
I'm not sure, either, but I think it could be. None of my kids has a herniated bb, but I do. Got it while pregnant with #3.
I'm not sure either, I have no clue what an outie looks like, lol...maybe what hers is.
I responded on your pic too but yeah it might be. It's worth asking the doc about, definitely. Both of mine had belly buttons that looked kinda like that immediately after the cord fell off, but within a day or two had turned into a normal belly button. But maybe she's an outie..I'm not and neither are my kids so I wouldn't know what it would look like.
It's not sticking out as bad in this pic, when she screams it's poking straight out.
