labor signals

I'm 38weeks and wondering how exactly does labor work.. Does the pains just randomly come in a day? What does the contractions actually feel like? Any pre pains or signs that happened before real labor? I just need to know; please share experiences. I have yet to experience any labor signs. No mucus plug, no dilation, NOTHING!!! I'm becomimg impatient, miserable, and depressed.

With my first I never noticed my Braxton hicks contractions.  I did notice my mucus plug coming out with a pink tinge but it came out over a couple weeks not just all at once. The day before my daughter was born I woke up with contractions (crampy,  punchy pain in my back). They were random all day and hurt but not too bad, I went shopping all day with them. They didn't become regular until about midnight and I was admitted to the hospital at 3 am. At that point the contractions were very uncomfortable. With this pregnancy, currently 39 weeks, I have had several belly contractions, some uncomfortable some i hardly notice over the past couple weeks. I had some back contractions about a week ago in the morning ( I think I was dehydrated). I have been losing my mucus plug for a couple weeks. No real signs of labor yet. Every pregnancy is different. All I can say is, you will know! When you start getting contractions, drink water, walk, maybe take a shower. If they continue then it is true labor. Sorry for thr novel. Hope this helps you.
