Well, Allayah, do ask the doctor for clarification next time you are in. (Incidentally, I had heard it was 12 weeks, not nine. First trimester, you know.) But the main point is that it is not your mental state but actually being past a certain week that makes the baby safer from miscarriage. In other words, if you are past a certain point but don't know it, you are still safer from miscarriage, and if you are not past a certain point, whether you know it or not, you are not yet safer from miscarriage. There is nothing about knowing your gestational age that makes the situation safer or not safer. Just the passage of time.
That said, if the ultrasound says a GA that does not agree with the projected due date, talk to the doc and get it straightened out.
My ultrasound said I'm am due October 26 but my doctor says I'm due November 1 I listen to the ultrasound I tell people I'm due October 26 which I knew I was gonna have my baby in October
okay that sounds good. okay im just a little worried because once ive reached nine weeks the baby graduates from an embryo to a fetus decreasing the chance of a miscarrage. if ive passed nine weeks the chances of me having a miscarrage drops to only 3 percent so when the ob told me i was 7w6d i kind of freaked out cause i thought i was already passed that point.
i had calculated the date of my lmp and it added up to 10w2d but during the sonogram i asked how far along i was and he said 7w6d and he told me my due date is april 9th. why would he tell me that i was 7w6d and then on my sonogram say that i was 10w2d? its so confusing. like later in life im going to go back and look at that sonogram and be like okay so the 27th of 2013 i was 10w2d.... i cant wait til my next appt lol im impatient to learn about my baby day by day week by week and this is truly frusteratng me.
If your due date is April 9, on the 27th you were 7 weeks 6 days, not 10 weeks 2 days.
If the print-out of your sonogram says 10 weeks 2 days, ask your doctor if that is a typo, pointing out that it does not match your due date at all.
It's possible your further along than you think I suggest talking to your doctor about it.
