It is proven to increase iq. But yes genetics play a huge part. I actually used a manual, hand, pump. It was easier to control how hard or soft the pull was. They have different cones to fit your breast shape/size.

Breast feeding doesn't just benifit  baby but mom as well. If you choose to breast feed it reduces ur risk of breast and cervical cancer, you loose weight faster afterwards. And it also helps you have a closer bond with baby.  So along with all the good it gives ur baby it is also a huge plus for mom. :).  And if you can't breast fee a great alternitave to breast milk is goats milk because it is as close to human milk.  It's better than formula.

It isn't necessarily that breast feeding makes your child smarter. Most studies I have read suggest that women who breast feed tend to be smarter and therefore the baby is genetically more likely to be smart. I would like to breast feed simply because it helps build the baby's immunity but this is my first so we will see.

My lg latched on straight away. no problem. then was a boob monster.i swear it fealt like she was on my boob every 10 mins. a bit tricky when ur half way round asda or standin on a bus. I couldnt pump at all.. most i got out was an ounce. Bf is easy at night u dont have to leave ur room. just relax in bed and snuggle as u feed. Wonderfull feeling.  i bf for a year in total. she never liked formula so couldnt switch to growin up milk. so at 6 months i started weening to food but still bf till she turned 1 then got her on to squash or  cows milk.. Formula fed babies throw up alot more but its still very healthy for them. its totally up to u. wat u feel is best for u and baby. U may choose to bf but cant or choose to formula feed but cant. You wont know till babys arrived  xx good luck xx

You're welcome. One thing that can be a hassle with formula is finding one that's right for your baby. My sister struggled for almost a month trying to find one that wouldn't upset her baby girls tummy and only by accident did she find out that if she mixed two different ones her daughter would be ok with it. But that's like a worst case scenario.  With my girl I just had to use the lactose free versions for sensitive tummies. I'm going to personally try and bf again this time but I've already got a couple of bottles and some formula samples for just in case.

I'm sorry but wow some of you make formula sounds like the worst thing you can give your baby. Fyi it isn't bad at all.while yes I would ay breast milk is better formula is a very acceptable and healthy alternative for those mother's who can't bf like I couldn't with my first child. She is now 4 and perfectly healthy and very very smart. Do what is right for you but don't for one second feel like a failure if you can't bf.

Well if its more convienient just pump enough for while youre at work and when you get home put him to the breast. But try breast feeding first because its awesome knowing that your bonding with your baby.

Yes and it was fine for my son. But not every baby is the same. Some babies take to both breast and bottle while some want only one or the other.

And formula is recalled constantly!! Why risk it? Plus breast feeding helps u lose weight, FAST! Formula stains clothes a horrible yellow color when the spit up or drool. That stuff is just awful. Go ahead taste some. Blech!!

Don't supplement for at least 6 weeks. It will news w your supply. Why supplement at all? I have two boys and they are in gifted classes I swear bf makes them smarter and healthier. It has been proven. Breast is best. The only thing in a bottle should be breast milk. That way mommy can finally have a glass of wine and a break while daddy takes over lol. I'm a breast feeding expert ask away!!!

Breast feeding was so much easier. But I didnt have a breast pump so it was tough when I went somewhere and left my baby. I would have to give formula. And then the WIC tried telling me that he needed to nurse every 20 minutes! I was like Uh I have 3 other kids and a house to clean so I cannot nurse every 15 to 20 minutes! So I would switch off between the bottle and the breast. He didnt get confused and still took to the breast. I will do it the same way with this little one when he/she arrives!
