AF after having baby?

when do you typically get your first period once you give birth?

i am breastfeeding but im only pumping and that doesnt happen every 3 hours so it varies throughout the day...i honestly have only been pumping 3x a day because i have to give my daughter high calorie formula as well and honestly im soooo busy...

just curious on when to expect my first AF visit

They're never the same.  Nature wouldn't dream of making having kids that easy! :)  If you have concerns over bleeding, though, be sure to call your doctor.  Maybe you just overdid it for a day and you spotted because of it.

If it's only 5 weeks, it could still be from pregnancy/birth/etc.  With my last baby, I was still off and on 'til about 6-7 weeks.  With my first, I went even longer - but I was having problems healing.

the even weirder part is that its now only brown when i wipe...which is old blood im assuming so maybe it is still from the delivery?

its exactly 5 weeks today since i had her...not sure what's going on now

it was pink earlier and now brown....i think she's playing games with me

Sorry to hear that it looks like AF is on her way again.  I know I totally love not having her here yet!  But for some women, it just happens sooner, even when breastfeeding.  One of those unexplainable things, I guess!

I have 4 kid's (my yougnest is only 3 1/2 weeks, so i don't know about this one yet) and so far with them I have gotten my first period within 5-8 weeks after delivery even though I was breasfeeding (my first one i had to pump because of him being premature) I always thoght it sucked as your first period after baby is usually a harder period atleast in my experience! I would definitely be using something though if you don't want another one right now, because it can happen!

well....looks like AF is coming later today or tomorrow.....i just went to the bathroom and there was tints of AF showing her face again...not bright red so she's not here but on her way

i seriously doubt this tinges of blood are still from giving birth

I'm still waiting for AF as well. I didn't BF but I did pump for 5 weeks. I quit pumping a little over 2 weeks ago. I keep getting intermittent cramps but nothing yet. I'm not pregnant as I haven't had sex in 4 mos. I think with my last kid I got it when I was 6-8 weeks old, and I was BFing. Hmmm

My son is 7 months old and I have yet to see AF.  I'm still BFing.....Last time, AF didn't return until I was done BFing at 6 months PP.

Definitely use some form of protection - or abstain - if you're not ready for another baby....your fertility could return at any time, even if you haven't had a period yet.  DH and I use both condoms and the mini BCP - we're not taking any chances!

Mine have varied as well, 1st, was about 11 months, 2nd was 9 months and my last was around 8 months.  Don't be embarrassed we all go through it some time or another

thanks ladies...

i just worry because DH has been ansty since he was shut off for so long (haha...great terminology) and we have been having a lot of intercourse and truthfully im not ready to get preg again but because of my blood clotting disease i could start a pill or other form of birth control

im embarrassed to admit this because im old enough to know better and right now im too scared to have another baby because of my last preterm birth and the losses prior...in any event....off to walmart i go today to get condoms....

Even when I was only partially pumping/bf;ing i didn't get my period until i stopped completely.  But everyone is different and the times varied by each of my pregnancies

I don't think there is a "typical" time.  Mine varied with each of my kids - and they were all exclusively breastfed.  I have ranged from 3 months to 9 months in having my period return.  I know women who don't breastfeed can get it within a month or two.  Basically, you can't expect it to return at a certain time.
