Feeding.

So okay. I have a few questions about feeding. Ftm here so bare with me. 1. How often and how much do you feed your newborn? 2. How do you know when to start feeding them more? 3. During the night, do you wake them up to feed them or wait for them to wake up and let you know? 4. Is all the can have is breast milk or formula? Or can they have other applesauce like food?

start off with a few ounces. They will stop eating when they're full. But if they're hungry they will either cry or  Do little motions that eventually you'll get used to and that'll be a sign that they're still hungry.

I'm not worried. I just want to know ahead of time so Im not so overwhelmed when they actually arrive. Not to mention I need to let Brandon know since he'll be on night shift because Ill be gone. How much do you feel them? And how do you know when to increase the amount youre feeding them?

sorry I used voice text but my grandma laughed when I told her the doctor wanted me to wake my daughter brooke up every few hours to feed her. My grandma told me if my daughter was hungry she would wake and cry. she wouldn't lay there and starve herself.

If my daughter didnt wake up after about 6 hours or so I would wake her because I was breastfeeding and would be so engorged and leaking like crazy.

Newborns eat every 2-3 hours.  Like clock work.  Sleep poop eat. Repeat. Its best as newborns to keep them yourself on a schedule. You'll be waking up every 2 hours or so until baby sleeps longer throughout the night. All a newborn needs is milk. You do not feed them baby food or baby cereal until 4-6 months. All the information you need you will get at the hospital when u have the baby & at each pediatric visit. Don't get so overwhelmed with all this,  it may seem like a chore or hard work,  but trust me its maternal & It'll come naturally.

no hun I really don't believe you should have to wake them up to feed them. My grandma laughed at me when I told to the doctor wanted me to wake Brooke at the feeder and like my grandma said my daughters not gonna lay there and starve herself.

but really though if the baby isn't waking up to be fed, I don't see the need to wake them every 2 or 3 hours to feed if they aren't hungry. the way I see it is if they're hungry the wake up but I don't want to wake up every few hours if they're not going to wake up. you will lose so much sleep by doing that and you will get exhausted

I was mostly confused on feeding them during thh night. So dont wake them up, let them wake you up? And what if they were not to wake up for a certin amount of time, would you wanna wake them up and feed them?

When the baby is hungry he or she will cry to let yoy know. When your in the hospital don't listen to the doctors, doctors tell you to wake your baby up every two hours to feed them, but that messes up the sleeping schedule..

I fed my daughter every 2-3 hours. You can tell by certain cues they give. My daughter always started to make fists and suck on her hands. A latemcue is crying. I always waited for my daughter to wake up to eat. It is recommended up to 6 months to strictly have breastmilk or formula because their stomachs aren't fully developed. Some doctor's will recommend doing cereal before then flr certain reasons though.

you don't feed them food items till they get older so just formula or breastmilk. The baby will let you know when it's hungry will cry and let you know. The doctor says to feed them every so many hours but if the baby's hungry the baby Will wake up and cry for you. I tried to wake up every 2 hours to feed the baby but she wasn't hungry so I'm not going to wake up every few hours to feed her unless She wanted it.
