With this pregnancy I started seeing a doctor at 4wks, only cause I'm high risk and need to be referred out.
I started seeing mine at 5 weeks, but that was my personal preference...I was seeing a new one so it made me feel much to know i would have the extra time to build a relationship with her throughout my pregnancy.
With this pregnancy I started seeing my OB at 13 weeks for 3 reasons.
1: I was working at a hospital in a different city that the one I live in and I wanted to check out the OBs in the area because the hospital I work at is 100 times bigger than my hometowns hospital and also has a NICU whereas my hometowns hospital does not.
2: I have a history of miscarriage and I wanted to get past the "12 week mark" before I went to the doctor and had a viability ultrasound
and 3: my insurance didn't cover me until the first of May which was when I was 13 weeks pregnant. I actually called to get an appointment in April but found out that I couldn't get early coverage so I waited.
I started taking my vitamins when I found out I was pregnant and I took the OTC ones because I already knew that the perscription ones made me stomach sick. I dont regret not seeing my doctor sooner but some people do better throughout their pregnancy if they recieve early prenatal care. good luck.
It's never too late but I have to warn you that most doctors won't take a new patient that they don't have any medical information about especially if they're already in the 3rd trimester. If you have a regular doctor, go see them. They can refer you to an OB (Obstetric Doctor- who delivers babies).
How far along are you?
