Yea I know you're right! It will get easier....I just love Dunkin Donuts and all their Caffeine Full drinks! hehe.
Thanks for sharing!! I'm sure I'll feel soo good when I'm not drinking caffeine either..the headaches just suck, LOL
Gina, I didn't read all of the posts above but I know the feeling about being a coffee fanatic!!! I work in a research lab and incidentally, we have long hours and sometimes very boring ones at that. Waiting is a big part of my job, the research is always ongoing and we have long periods of lag time in between. Obviously before I got pregnant, I used coffee (and lots of it) to get over those long periods of downtime!!! When I found out I was pregnant, I quit caffeine cold turkey. Looking back, I wish I had done it gradually because for the first 6 or 7 weeks, I would have a nagging migraine at least 3 of 7 days in a week!!! Probably due to the caffeine withdrawal. Either way, I didn't even want to try decaf because I thought it would make me want the real deal even more. I finally got over the migraines and now at 19.5 weeks, I function just fine without the caffeine. I actually feel better not having the caffeine as weird as it sounds. Anyway, this past weekend we had a freak warm front and it was like 62 degrees. My husband thoughfully brought me home a nice Decaf Iced French Vanilla coffee as a treat because he was so proud of me that I had decided to give up caffeine for good. It was the most delicious thing I have ever had!!! I can't believe how long I went without coffee. But now, I think it was worth it because I really enjoyed the decaf very much and will probably switch to decaf for good. Either way, the point of my story is that I know what you are going through and trust me it gets better! Pretty soon you probably won't even miss it!!!
Good for you!! I also bought Decaf Lipton Tea. Gonna take some getting used too but at least I can still drink Decaf right!? :)
Well i gave up the caffeen when i was about 8 weeks on advice from the doctors. Have also since given up caffinated tea and now only drink about 1-2 cups of decaf Earl Grey tea. Had the bad headaches and stuff to begin with but am now 22 weeks and fine!!
When I was Pregnant last year, my Doc said the same thing...1 Caffeinated drink per day was okay. But I'm just really trying to give it all up for now. I tried to make it really really strong because I've heard Decaf tastes like water and it actually wasn't too bad!
I saw the half calf in the store and I was tempted to buy it but something just told me to go for the decaf....I add 1% milk or a FV or Hazelnut creamer and used to use Splenda but now a teeny bit of sugar.
Maybe every now and then I'll have a real cup with hubby, but I'm gonna try and stick with this! Thanks Ladies!
Yes, i switched to Decaf, but my doc told me I could have one caffeinated drink per day, as long as I minimized it. I dont drink it every day, but 5 out of 7 I have a half to a full cup of coffee in the mornings with my DF before I go to work. Thats it though. I am being really good otherwise.
Well, I am curretnly over 13 week and have been drinking coffee here and there. The doc said you can have no more than 2 cups (not mugs). During my first pregnancy, I would get the light coffee that's 1/2 the caffeine. This time, I am drinking only one cup and I add lots of skim milk and some International Delight creamer and no Splenda (I used to use it). I got sick during my 1st trimester so coffeee didn't even taste good. I do drink it now and then and I buy the mocha cappachino stuff. I am sure I will be back to coffee drinking once this baby is born. Seriously try the light stuff or make half and half. Decaf just taste like water to me.
Yea Splenda is bad while Pregnant! If you look it up it will gives you articles on studies they've done.
Mind over Matter right? I pretend I'm drinking Caffeine full Coffee! :)
Is splenda bad while pregnant?
I have had a hard time with decaf, so I am now having a caffeine free soda in the morning to get me going. Not very healthy, but I pretend it has caffeine in it, so it keeps me going. :-D
Luckily I'm not a huge Soda fan...I only drink Diet Root Beer and Mountain Dew...but since we started TTC I gave up the Dew and only drink Diet Root Beer which is one of the only sodas that is Caffeine Free.
Yea I rememebr back in the day when I used to have 4 cups of coffee I tried giving it up for a day or two and the headaches were unbearable!! I got my husband hooked on coffee and he has 2 a day and gets back headaches when he doesn't have it.
I didn't have ANY yesterday which is huge for me and by night I started with the headache. Woke up today with it still, but not too bad and now I'm enjoying the Decaf...errr, nah it's not so bad.
I also had to give up Splenda too! Which is killing me! I don't like Sugar in my coffee and I use Splenda in baking too...thats been hard not to use, but I'm willing to give up anything to better my chances and keep me and the baby healthy. (for when I get Preggers)
I'm sure I'll start to get the headaches this week but I know it's worth it!
Do you guys have a cup of coffee a day?? It just gets me moving, even the though of coffee gets me up and at em :)
Yea I did the same thing with my last pregnancy...and same thing as Atia_Julii I got BAD headaches and then afer that I felt GREAT!!! Once you get over that headache hump it's not really gonna bother you again. And when I went out to eat is when I would get drinks with caff. and it didn't affect anything....I need to start trying to do that again this time.....
I'm also a caffeine-aholic. Soda, coffee. . . you name it! I did switch to decaf coffee since trying to conceive. I figure I may as well do everything in my power to make this happen, ya know? And for the first 5 days, I was miserable. The WORST headaches I've ever experienced. Now I'm about 7 days without caffeine, and honestly, I feel so much better and adjusted. I may just give up caffeine for life! Or. . . maybe not. ;-)
