Biophysical profile

When I was at my OB appointment yesterday, I asked him if I needed to go for another u/s since the last time he had me go for one between 40-41 weeks, prior to induction.  He looked at my chart and said the reason why he'd sent me for one the last time was because I had no change in belly measurement in my last 3 appointments.  This time, I've measured 38 cms. at my last appointment, and then again yesterday - so he said that I don't need the biophysical profile this time because I haven't hit 3 weeks of no change in measurement yet.

Is it normal to not have much change in the last 2-3 weeks?  I actually lost 4lbs since my appointment last week as well, but I attribute it to the fact that I've been walking more now that I'm off work and they've also been having problems with the scale at my OB's office (it was recently replaced, but the nurse said that it's been giving odd readings lately, most women have been losing weight, according to the readings they're getting from it).

DS' biophysical profile was normal - he was born healthy at 7lbs. 6ozs when I was exactly 41 weeks.

In the late third trimester, especially the last month, the measurements don't really change much at all.

I would say it's normal to not have much change at this stage.  As for losing weight that can be attributed to a lot of things including your walking, one  other thing may be that the closer you get to labor the lower the amniotic fluid level gets.  I was having biweekly nst/afi's with my oldest son and there was a significant drop in the level of AF several days before I went into labor.  My doc didn't do an ultrasounds the last couple of months even before I was induced this last time.
