*bump* I'm going to continuously bump this for a few days if it's going too far down. I want as many of us as I can to see it.
I mentioned it loong ago. When i mentianed it to her, she told me she hasnt seen it yet?!!! Cant remember the exact conversation obviously. But yeah i did mentian it to her.... And after she saw it she actually msg me and tld me about a really good book i should read similar to this movie.
I also watched this video and I thought it was amazing, I had waished that I had chosen a midwife but nonetheless, it has made me want to do natural childbirth sooo much more! I would def recommend this video to anyone!
Joy has been recommending this video since I was pregnant back at the beginning of 2008. Not sure when you mentioned it to her tho.
HAHAAAA I mentianed this movie to Joy!!!!!! lol.... guess shes passing it along!!! =) =) Thanks Joy! I believe i even wrote a post on this movie.... and no one winded up writing on that post.....
What you just mentioned is exactly why its very important to have your partner on your side and have him know exactly what you want and don't want. In the heat of the moment, as smjmekg said, you may agree to something you really don't want but with your partner there, he can insist on the your birth going as close to what you planned as possible. Remember, as the patient, you have the right to refuse particular treatments and medications if you feel they aren't necessary. A lot of the crap doctors try to do/give women is for THEIR convenience, not yours.
I'm not necessarily sharing to try to get women to do natural at home midwife assisted births, I'm just trying to share the video mostly for the women who want to do the natural births. The part about going into the hospital and wanting natural and having the drs say you need pitocin, or you need a c-section, or you need a vacuum assisted delivery, that's what is scary to me...I know in the middle of all that pain you're more likely to agree with whatever the professional is saying, instead of listening to your body, so that's why I wanted to share it. So people know that they CAN do it without medical intervention if that's what they want and they don't have to have all this special stuff done....
DH and I watched that video and it scared him! LOL He didn't want me to see a doctor. I was almost 28 weeks and tried to still get in to get a midwife and actually got one!!
Love that film! The website, My Best Birth, they have set up is great too. Full of wonderful resources.

It is a good video, Joey had suggested it back when i was pregnant with Gabe and I watched it. Becuase I also do VBACS there are certain things I can't do either but it gives you very good information.
Just FYI for anyone considering a VBAC or an elective C-Section another very good place for information is the International Cesarean Awareness Network. Just google "ICAN online"
Another poster also mentioned to me that the ACOG has released less restrictive guidelines for VBAC's. I have read them and they are much more in favor of VBAC's than before. The ACOG is admittedly concerned with the rising rate of unnecessary c-sections. Hopefully this will get some of the doctors to get their heads out of their rears and realize that far more women are candidates for VBACS than they ever thought before.
(sorry, not trying to hijack the post but you mentioned VBAC so I thought I'd share)
