Any mommy with second graders!?

How is your child with reading? For the past month I've sat with my daughter trying to understand what goes  through her head when trying to sound words out! I've wrote down around 200 sight words that I found on Google that start from kinder-third grade and wrote them all on index cards, she knows a good few of them but very simple words like, "a" "the" kindergarten level words! She's been stuck on the word "ate" for 40 mins already and I just feel like giving up!!! I get so frustrated, I practically sound the word out for her yet she doesn't hear what I'm saying she gets distracted by little things or starts to look away it makes me very disappointed and angry I want to break down and cry because I know she will struggle so much once school starts next week. I'm thinking about talking to her new teacher once round up comes on Friday to let her know how I feel and maybe getting her held back another year, I feel like I've failed as a mother because I'm giving up on her but it been like this every single day that the more I stress the more I start to worry about my unborn child! Am I wrong what else can I do!!!??? Does she have a problem!???? Her first grade teacher didn't feel like she waS ready to advance to second grade yet still past her!

Hmmm. There might be a problem then. I would keep working with her and maybe bring it up with the second grade teacher at open house.

I've tried so many rewards!!!! IceCream, her tablet, going outside, watching tv!! Everything I can think of!! She was only with her first grade teacher for a month because we moved!

I would try doing a reward system with her. Give her some kind of goals and continue to work with her. I'm sure she can read, a teacher would have retained her if not. Maybe she just doesn't have the correct motivation to do it in the summer.

I know!!! Any advice!? She hasn't been outside to play with any friends half her summer vacation I've tooken her tablet away it's been reading and headaches non stop!!!

I have a degree in early childhood education and that sounds like something might be off. A child should be reading in first grade.
