I recently read an article about eating Dates. It cited a study done at Jordan University Science and Technology. They studied two groups of women. One group are six dates per day the last 4 weeks of pregnancy. The other did not. I'll copy and paste results below.
The study showed 3 major areas of difference between the two groups.
1. The group of women who consumed dates had a notably higher average cervical dilation upon hospital admission than the women who consumed no dates (3.52 cm vs 2.02cm). They also had a higher percentage of membranes intact (83% vs 60%).
2. The percentage of women who’s labour started spontaneously was also significantly higher in the date eating group, 96% compared to 79% in the non-date eating group. Subsequently the use of prostin/oxytocin was a small 28% compared to 47% in the non-date eating group.
3. The length of the first stage of labour in the date eating group was an average of 510 minutes compared to the non-date eating group who had an average of 906 minutes.
I was just curious, I didn't have that in mind though. Thank you.
Please don't try to induce now. There could be a lot of complications for the baby and of course more expensive hospital bill as they will keep your baby in there to monitor and ensure everything is ok.
Let the baby come when baby is ready. I don't even agree with Dr's inducing unless it's necessary like the baby is in distress or the placenta is aging too fast or damaged and can't support the baby anymore
Not that it would necessarily work anyway, but no one should be attempting to induce before 37 weeks! You aren't considered full term until 37 weeks and even then, baby will not come if they aren't ready.
