does gentics play a roll?

OK y'all my granny delivered her first two kids 6-8 weeks early....my mom delivered her first mud 8 weeks early....due to family history is it possible that I'll deliver early? Does genetics play a roll in that or just a coincidence?

I only worry because at 28 weeks I started preterm labor. Contractions and I'm already dilated 1 cm. We stopped it with meds but now I'm 31 weeks getting closer to that 8 week mark. Just a scared ftm I guess

Could. The way your mother carried and get mother carried are likely to influence the way you carry. However it's not a guarantee! My mom's longest labor (out of three) was about five hours. My sister's longest labor so far was just over seven hours. So I was really hoping for a short labor. Nope.  I got the short side of average for a first time mom, just under ten hours, with almost three hours of pushing.

Nope, doesn't play a role whatsoever. EVERY pregnancy is different. Thats just a coincidence.
