Is there still hope for this pregnancy?

Hi,

i have a deep concern pertaining my wife, she had done a home pregnancy test and it was shown positive, However when she was about 6 weeks , she experienced one day of  mild bleeding. With this worry in mind, we rushed to the doctor and he said that there is a posibilty of molar pregnancy as the scan shows a snowy effect. the doctor then took my wife's blood and the result came back with a HcG  beta level of 12,000. and this is in the 6th week. today we we have an appointment with the doctor and the results of the 2nd beta hcg level came back at about 10,064. im deeply concerned as on the same day i got the news i reached out for a second opinion. however, the other doctor said that he saw a sac (but still unclear) but it doesnt worry him, his advise was to be patient and give it another week. Furthermore, the 2nd doctor also did a urine test and it was a clear positive. however the first doctor that informed us on the molar pregnancy is eager to do a d/c asap. im confused and worried for my wife, please help me.
prior to this my wife background is that she has had an ovarian cyst 2 years ago, and then a miscarrige a year ago during 6 weeks. Now with this pregnancy the doctors are hoping for a miscarrige as the concern to protect my wife but my wife is hoping otherwise. Is there still hope for this baby? The results are so contrasting; unclear sac yet no bleeding. Decreased beta HcG levels yet clear positive urine test. Please help.

While the numbers do not look good at this point, don't feel you have to be rushed into a D&C. Your wife is not cramping or bleeding, so waiting an extra week for a follow up ultrasound will not hurt anything.

A test will stay positive until the HCG level drop to near nothing, so that really isn't a good indicator as to what is going on.

I know the pain you are going through but try and stay positive until things are conclusive. You and your wife will be in my thoughts and prayers.

she will still get a + urine test until her levels drop low enough for the hcg not to be picked up! ( id say around less then 25) and the fact that her levels are dropping is a bad sign! At six weeks your levels should be rising and not lowering this is a big sign of misscarriage! Im really suprised her doctor didnt tell her this!! I would get another beta done and if its still decreasing go ahead with the d/c! Im so sorry for your loss i know how it feels to lose a baby from a misscarriage!!
