Baby rice question.

Harry is now about 13/14 weeks, I get slightly confused.. sometimes aha. And well, when I was little I was put on Baby Rice at 10 weeks as well I was a little fatty, and well Harry is the same, he is on SMA milk for Hungrier babies. And at 10 weeks was on 8oz, I was told when he drains bottles for more than a week move up an OZ so I have, well I spoke to my Doctor and she said Harry is fine to go on Baby Rice at 10 weeks as I was and many parents do it. So i did for a week and those nights he went to bed earlier than normal normally its 11pm because he loves his mummy so much he refuses to sleep but those nights he went down and stayed asleep at 9pm. When I told my Health Visitor she had a really big go at me as it can cause problems, but me my brothers and my sisters never had any problems and all together thats 10 of us, and we're all fine...so I stopped giving it to him, And then the 11pm bed time came back....

What do you think, I started him back on baby rice ONCE A DAY yesterday he has it at lunch time, I make it how it says 1 spoonful of rice 10 spoonfuls of milk (The baby spoon sized) and he will eat it all then finish his bottle (he is a chubby one)

She also had a go at me for the way I made my bottles, I made them how my mum made them... boil water and once its called down add the milk... But because ONE baby died of them being made like that... its wrong.. So now I make them up as I go along,, like water... then when its time for his feed add milk... and then she said that was wrong...??

Im not introducing veg and stuff until 6 months like you're meant to, its just the baby rice, Do you think thats okay, its only once a day.... he sleeps through the night anyways, but on the baby rice he seems to sleep earlier...

Shall I carry on doing what I am doing, Harry is happy with it.. I just realised today, do not give a 3 month old the spoon to play with.. my gosh what a mess but he had a smile with it so its fine :)

I just boil the water and add the formula when he wants feeding! He is on 9oz of the hungrier baby stuff which is fat! Because well with the normal formula feeding every 2 hours! He just was never full up! Aha! Harry doesn't really cry either? Just when he is hungry! Aha! But I guess I am happy with feeding him rice he is happy with it as well! So ill carry on doing it, I guess I just got scared when she said it can cause breathing problems and cause allergies to most foods and stuff like this! :(! X

Lol i just count him as being 13 weeks old.
I know what you mean, Mataio eats like he doesnt get fed! But he only eats 6oz every 3 hours. He can eat more, but i dont want to overfeed him. If he gets less than 6oz he throws a fit! Hes so fat that hes not on the charts anymore lol.
Also, when i make his bottles i just heat it in the microwave for 24 seconds and then shake it to make sure there arent any hot spots, then i add his formula. My mom still makes his bottles by boiling the water lol, but Mataio gets angry when hes hungry and doesnt like to wait. If Harry is happy with his cereal then go ahead and give it to him, thats what i tell myself when people say im doing something wrong...if my son is happy with it, then im happy with it.

haynsweetie our sons were born the same day, but my drs say he's 13 nearly 14 weeks?? Aha, they do it from the friday, so he'd be like 13 weeks today? I duno I'm confused aha! And no Harry weighs 15 pounds well he did 2 weeks ago, :) aha chubby one, he is just always hungry! And he slept through the night from 5 weeks give or take a few nights where he had his broncitus! :( but the hospital sent him home after the dr sent him there because he was struggling to breathe!? Aha! He loves his rice, just a bad idea giving him the spoon! Baby rice everywhere! Xx

I had my son on Rice cereal at 7 weeks, he wasnt sleeping well at night so i tried it for a few weeks...it actually did nothing for him lol, he was still sleeping & waking up at the same time so i figured id just stop the cereal since he doesnt really need the extra calories. He turned 3 months yesterday & weighs about 21lbs now. But it is ok to put cereal in their bottles early on. They also said no powder in the diaper, but i was like "yeah whatever" and been puting powder in his diapers. Sometimes Doctors are dumb lol.

Sounds like you have a pretty happy baby when you give him the rice.  I started my son on rice at 4 months because that's what the doctor suggested - but I know in some cases, they suggest earlier or later depending on when the child is ready.  I think you're fine doing what you're doing.  It's amazing he sleeps so long all night!  Congrats to you!  Mine didn't do that 'til after 6-7 months old and he was always under weight even though I fed him every 3 hours or so!  You've got yourself a healthy little boy, in my opinion - his eating and sleeping habits seem to prove that. :-)

My dr said it was fine the health visitor had a go at me? Its mixed with formula even though it says 4 months plus this kid eats like there's no tomorrow he demand feeds but its roughly every 3 hrs! Except at night where he sleeps through until 9am! I just got worried because the health visitor did have a right go at me :( I ffelt bad xx

I think dr's are full of it.  Baby rice should be just fine as long as it's mixed with the formula and not regular milk.  It helps fill their bellies.  My mother had me and my brother on baby rice as early as 5 weeks I believe; and we are perfectly fine.
