My mother got pitocin when she had my brother and didn't receive any pain meds. She was very clear with the doctors to use the lowest dose and only for a short period of time. Good luck!
If your heart is set on no meds you just need a really good support system to help you through it.
Yes induction can make contractions feel more intense but I've known two women who did it without meds.
They had a quicker uncomplicated labors BC they didn't have meds (that can possibly slow down or stop your labor) and they could feel how hard they are pushing.
I'm not that brave, and wish i was.
But its not impossible sweetie! You can do it if you are really committed and have support!
Thank you guys! I'm just gonna see how it goes and hopefully will be able to make it thru without the epidural!
I plan on being induced Monday and already told my doctor to not even offer me the epidural. I do not want it. All it will do is slow labor down and with the pitocin, the labor will be slow anyways... My mom had some demeral with me, and it slowed her down about 2 hours, so I plan on just sucking it up!
Being induces has nothing to do with your contractions with me they just simply broke my water witch started it no different then it braking on its own... I made it threw my whole labor without epidural.. Even though it was very painful i had bad back labor due to my son being turnt the wrong way so i ended up with c section... But i suggest if you wanna go natural give it a shot
I had an epidural with my first it didn't do anything. It didn't take away any pain and it didn't slow down my labor
I just had my daughter on Thursday I was induced an did it with no medicine! It was not that bad an I was only in labor 7 hours! My suggestion would be get a big bounce ball an bounce on it as long as possible an make sure to close your eyes when the contraction comes an breath slowly through it an tell yourself its not bad an you can do it an think about your baby coming that's what got me through it an I didn't even cry good luck!
My contractions for my 2nd son was way worse when I had him then my contractions from my 1st son ! I got the epidural cause my labor ended in a csection with my oldest . And with my 2nd baby I just had another one .
From my research, pitocin does not affect how painful or the duration of labor. Although a lot of people complaint that with being on pitocin it made contractions more painful. It's supposed just a thing that make you go through the same process as you were to labor on your own. You would go through the same thing without it. How "painful" it feels just depends on your pain tolerance and your body.
I didn't have an epidural when I was induced. I did have IV meds but I felt everything all it did was make me feel tired and drugged up but all the pain was there. So this time even if induced I'll be going no pain meds because I know I can make it through the pain.
I had poticin with my first because my water had already been broke 15 hours. And even though my contracts were strong they weren't close enough together. For the 15 hours I was in labor without poticin I felt in complete control. After the position started it was really hard to even breath and back labor started. I got an epidural because the nurse said it was going to be a long night. I was in labor 25 1/2 hours. My advice is hold off until you hit your own pain level...because you may have a high pain tolerance. But if you can't handle it have no shame!
Thank you all! I'll post my labor story sometime next week :)
