Are there any other options besides an epidural that'll lessen the pain during giving birth.? I don't hear of too many other things getting talked about

How did you manage that? Lol please tell me because I have a birth plan but nurses don't follow it if it's easier to give you pit and get you out of their hair sooner :/

^ i was in hospital all night when i was in labour and didnt get an iv

Usually they won't do the catheter epidural (the one that stays in your back) unless you're having a c-section. But the iv in your arm is an inevitable part of labor if you go to a hospital. They put it in just for fluids and incase you need something else. I've heard them give laughing gas and narcotics for the pain if you choose no epidural.

They can do an iv? Omg I'm so scared of needles. The thought of a needle going into my spine send chills up and down my spine. I'm totally freaked out about it.

I had the IV drugs with my first and will never have them again. I didn't feel drunk i felt totally stoned . It also seemed to really slow my labor. Probably bc I was laughing for an hour straight at nothing and keeping my belly muscles tense.

They can give gas. I think it's nitrogen.

With my second, the doctor who does the epidurals wasn't there and wouldn't be back for awhile. They injected some medicine into my iv to help take the edge off. It made me feel very drunk lol but it did take the edge off until my epidural arrived. But i dont remember what the medicine was called or anything about it.
