Yes it will lower his sperm count and if there is a smoker in the home and you have an infant it greatly increases your odds of SIDS. So I would suggest that anyone in the household who does smoke should stop prior to you becoming pregnant.
Thank youuu :) and yes that does help alot. im hoping within a couple months ill be getting a BFP!! it seems like ive been trying forever lol and im tired of waiting! but thank you for your advice!
I think the ovulation predictors someone mentioned might be the ovulation predictor kits (opk) that you buy at the store. They are sticks you pee on. You start peeing on them around calendar day 10 and keep peeing until you get a +, then do it do it do it! The opk's tell you when an egg is about to be released. It increases your chances of having intercourse at the right time.
Or you can just have sex every other day until you get preggo to insure that you have some swimmers waiting on your egg! But doing the kits will also let you know if you are having an ovulation surge and actually have the potential of releasing an egg.
And congrats on the NO SMOKING! I know it's hard. I quit many weeks ago myself. It's very important to your health and ability to concieve. I did read somewhere once that smoking is thought to slow the ability of the cillia in your tubes that move the egg to the right spot.
As far as hubby smoking, it can lower his count, but I don't think it is super significant. It can also slow his swimmers down too. Again, not sure if it is really significant. Other things he can do to help is to not do drugs, cut down on caffene and beer, take a vitamin himself (there are some out there for male fertility too) and be sure to expell swimmers every other day. Swimmers are typically at their best every other day. Sooner than that and they might not be strong enough. Longer than that and they start getting old and slowing/breaking down. But that doesn't mean it's a strict rule...
Hope some of those tips help you get preggo! :)
I looked at a bunch of ovulation calanders. The one I liked the best was on a site called babymed. It was showed in calander form & was easy to see & read. It showed your "best days" instead of just giving you a certain date. good luck!
Just remember that the online things are only a guess. I've heard it can lower your odds if he smokes, but I dunno how true this is. My sister and her bf smoked and did drugs (till I kicked her *** for it) and she got pregnant while doing them. Prenatals also don't actually make you more fertile. They just are a good headstart. Good luck.
I havent really had troubles but since april ive been off birth control and we havent been using protection and still nothing so ive decided to quit smoking as of today. and yesterday i started taking the prenatals. im not sure when i ovulate but my cycle is every 33 days. i cant really tell when i ovulate though unless i have that clear stringy dc. but ive done the ovulation predictors online but every single one says something different! its so frustrating
have you had any trouble conceiving in the past? Have you been trying long?
I don't know about hubby smoking, but way to go on quiting yourself! You overcame a HUGE hurdle that can only be good for you! I would think that You getting your body in a healthier state would def increase your odds.
Do you ever watch you ovulation? It is best to try & track it to improve your chances.
good luck!
