Birth Control~Mirena iud

I've been thinking what type of bc i want after delivery, i'm 26 i contemplated just getting fixed but everyone says im still young to make a permanent choice...so anyone have input on the Mirena iud, how it worked for you???..i like the idea of long term bc so this is what im leaning towards...

My friend tried it and she actually got pregnant on it and even had a cyst on her ovaries, and they even have a commercial with law suits against it.

I has mirena for almost 3 years and never had any issues with it. In fact, I lost a TON of weight and my periods almost stopped completely. I can't wait to get another one.

I had it and got a cervical cyst.

My stepsisters had mirena and she ended up in the hospital with severe depression. Not sure if the 2 are related at all, though. Probably a psychological thing for her. She'd always Bern the skinny, preppy girl and mirena caused her to gain 20lbs in 2 years.

I had the mirena for 2 years. My weight gain was around 10 lbs with it. I had it removed due to the cystic acne it caused. I had really bad breakouts on my face and back. Once I had it removed the acne went away. This side effect only happens in like 5 % of people. I wish it didn't cause that because I loved that you could get it and not worry..

hope all works out for you just consider being cut off when you know you arnt going to have any more kids because at this time in your life you could still change your mind about it and will regret it, u never no whats around the corner just keep getting cut off as your very last option xx

That doesn't sound too bad!....i would get fixed but im newly single...what if i find "the one" i wouldn't mind another baby so as long as im married! I think if igot on either mirena or the implanon that would put me in my 30s hopefully somethings will be different by then :)...thanks ladies

I wanted to get it after I had my 3rd bby but I missed my app so Im pregnant with my 4rd bby right now but I have friends that had complications with it and im afraid so Im just tyeing my tubes after I give birth to my 4rd bby.. I dnt wanna have anymore babys.. Me and my husband are happy with the ones we have..

The removal is not bad at all. My doc just had me cough and yanked it out, didn't feel a thing.

The more i hear of this implant the better choice it seems to be...how is the removal process?

i gave birth to my first child on the 17/07/07 and had the implant inserted on thhe 18/07/07 (day after) and had it in fpr 5 years befpr habing it removed. i had no problems with it at all.. there are side affects like wieght gain and periods being all ober the place or none at all but i can honestly say iv mever heard of anyone being caught while being on the implant thats the only reason i had it because its one if the most affective bc and once its in u dmt have to worry about any other bc (use condoms tho if you habe one night stamds or anything lol) but if your in a long term relationship then u wmt have to worry about any bc fpr 3 years :) i wid recommend it.. as for your thoughts of being done youay change your mind as i was told i was too young to be cut off because i said i was having no more thats it but i got woth my partner 16 months ago and he has changed my perspective on the idea and now im 17 weeks pregnant with my second child :) so im glad i was told i was too young and for 5 years i said i wasnt havin any more but now im happier than ever with my partner and were both happy were havin a baby tgther and havin that proper family xx

Mirena worked great for me at preventing pregnancy.  The downside was in the 5 years I had it in I gained 65 lbs  after having it removed and not changing anything I lost all of it in a year.
